Near the bayous of Louisiana, out of the way for even the humble Cajun swamp folk sat a old plantation house. Regardless of it's age, it was magnificently preserved, even the crop field of peppers, tabbaco and rice that the owner owned still grew and died, untouched by the ravages of civilization. It was within this out of place plantation that a tragedy struck. During the time of the Civil war, when the south was ravaged, a young union private deserted to meet his southern raised lover so to run away west. Yet it was not meant to be, the enraged father gunning down the man. Some say if you pulled up the rugs within the daughter's former bedroom, you can see were his blood stained the old wood. Over two centuries has passed while the place has been changed from owner to owner, each moving out weeks after they bought. The story was the same, the sound of footsteps was heard, and brief glimpses of ghostly figures could be seen.. Well the newest seller decided to "forget" to mention the place's haunted past when he attempted to sell the plantation to it's newest prospecting buyer..

"Miss, you'll find no other plantation house at this price. I am honestly losing out a bit of money for selling it to you." the Realtor said, speaking his pitch with a smile that would make any southern born salesman proud "I've spent a lot of money to keep this peace of history restored and up to shape. It seems that no one wants to buy it because they don't like being so close to the locals." he chuckled "The swamp dwellers scared away most of the city folk that came this way. I do hope you won't mind them as neighbors miss.." he spoke, asking for the name of the young successful business woman looking to buy the plantation from him..

Ashley was born and raised in New York;she grew tired of the bustling city so she took some of her vacation time, and went down south to stay with a friend. While she was there Ashley heard about an old plantation for sale driving by it a few times she could not help herself she had to buy it.

Getting up that morning she checked everything out with her bank;the money from her savings was just sitting in there doing nothing, and this seemed to be a good investment. After drinking a cup off coffee she went into the bathroom washing her petite body. Her breast were subtle, and her slim athletic body was just the right for being toned. She was five five and one hundred and twenty pounds with some light hazel eyes. As she dried and straightened her ebony colored hair she put on her makeup.

She had on light black eyeliner, and some blue eyeshadow to give a smokey eye look;her nails were manicured with white french tips. Ashley was dressed in an old white tank top,and some ripped jeans and old tennis shoes. Getting out of her old silver four door car. She went up to the man. "I don't mind at all it looks wonderful". Peering over the horizon as she saw the brown brittle plants she pondered what she was going to plant maybe tomatoes or something she was not quite sure. "So I will take it price as we talked about do you take checks?" she asked eagerly hoping it was not too eager.

The man smiled to her, though she wore casual wear, he could tell she could afford the place, especially at the price he was offering. She was so in love with the house she was not going to take a look inside? It didn't matter to him, he needed to make this sale. He softly smiled "Of course, now just need to fill out some paper work..please do come inside, I'd feel bad if you didn't get a good look at what your buying.." he spoke opening the door. The place was, as he said restored, it almost as if she was stepping into a time warp. The place looked brand new, regardless of the furniture, the decorations and style was still over a few hundred years old..lovingly repaired and refurbished.

The salesman led her into the large dining room, big enough to host parties as he then put down upon the table his suitcase, pulling out the contracts for him to sign the deed of the house over to her . He took a moment to pull from his jaket a fountain pen and a vial of ink "Do appolgize for being old fashoned..it's my grandfather's old pen, still writes good." he filled it and began to write what he had to in before he turned both the pen and paperwork over to her, he putting a small X where she needed to sign.

When Ashly walked into the old house she took a deep breath and let out a small gasp "my word it is beautiful" she said lowly as she bit her lip. Walking into the dining room she reached her hand over the oak woodwork, and smiled. Seeing the man take out a fountain pen she giggled "it okay, long as it still works" She knew that they had refurbished the place, and that there were many of the original things her mind wrapped around secrete treasure ,and old diaries as she giggled to herself.

Finally after signing her life away so to speak she looked around her new house now. It already seemed like home, but she was already sending for her things before the guy handed her the keys. "Could you get me the history of this place? I want to know everything about it." Smiling as she went into the living room with an old fire place running her fingers over the smooth wood on the mantel she was already putting things in places in her mind. This house was a gem, and Ashley felt very proud to own it. Now she could get a dog or maybe a cat she always wanted one. There was never a time she had not had one until she moved on her own and places were strict about that.

Looking around as she came to an old stair case that curved to the upstairs she wondered how she was going to get her things up there then she noticed another stairwell walking over to it. She rubbed her fingers on the carvings "magnificent" she said under her breath she looked as the carvings had all type of animals carved into it, but there seemed to be more horses carved then anything. "did they own horses back then?" she asked curiously.

The man nodded as he finished filling the pen "My grandfathers..worked perfectly for me before.." he handed her the pen and slid over the paper as he watched her sit. He could not help but smile a bit. Girl's going to be a house owner, pretty exciting stuff. He went through the papers he had before to make sure everything was in over for the transfer. As he saw her finish singing he smiled and did pull from his pocket the set of keys for the place "and there you go."

As she asked for the history for a moment he paused..she'd learn about it by the locals, might as well give her a..polite heads up. He followed her as she stood and walked around, taking in the beautiful sight as he began to speak "Place has been around for a long time..formerly a rice plantation, built back when these old swamps were first being colonized. Family of over three generations owned it. A veteran of the American revolution was who built it, and it stood since then. After the owners left it, the last owner was a son who'd sold it off in a rush..people to this day don't know why exactly..but the locals say that it was a ghost. About two other families came in, and moved out within the week..I presume that the local's stories got to them
scared. When I worked on it..I heard or saw nothing." He responded, in a way he was speaking the truth, he did not encounter anything supernatural when he worked on the place, and didn't hear the stories from the families that did leave.

As she walked around to the staircase he followed "Yes, one of the owners was a calvery officer, he had only one horse though, his old horse that he rode into combat with..after his time, he was able to pull enough strings to let him keep his loyal companion. The stables in the back can keep maybe two at the most, the land you bought is large enough to go riding on."
