Glavix had been living on a planet named Pherion for over a century. He had grown, shrunk... he had mated, and survived. It was what he did. He was highly intelligent... much like a dragon though, as he grew bored, he tended to fall asleep more often. When he was fully 'awake', he was a plant... almost like a Venus fly trap, he laid dormant, though it wasn't the large leaves that posed the 'threat', but rather the vines that lay around his immediate area.
They all stemmed from him, for he WAS a male... the argument was made that plants were uni sexual, in that they weren't either male nor female, and while perhaps the biology of such a statement was true, the 'character' that made up the plant known as Glavix was definitively male. He had grown bored, and had fallen asleep one too many times though.
The trees overhead had created a canopy that blocked out the sun, and the animals upon which he might feed off of had long ago learned not to get too close to him. So he began to grow weaker. First, it was his ability to control the vines... his main ability to trap and drain the pleasure from his prey. He fed off of phosphorescence, or... he also fed off of pheromones. He fed off of pleasure so to speak.
Yet without the food he needed, he began to curl slightly into himself, drawing himself into a coma like state. He sat within a clear glade in the middle of one of the forests of Pherion, and with that, he silently waited. He knew sometime... someone would come... he knew eventually, a prey would come close. He would simply have to wait for them. He had no idea his next prey was going to be quite so... delectably filling!
His actual being was a light green plant, with reddened bases to the leaves. His vines lay dormant around the glade, it was a glade of course, and even as he 'slept' he was still physically fine mobility wise. Much like the Venus fly trap, he would lay in wait, until the right time to strike was upon him!
