A world Anew

Aspect laughed, harshly.

" 'Stay out of your way'? Please. Have you heard the song of the killing gears in the Clockwork Asylum, or offered all your joys, wet with your own blood and tears, to the Machine God? You may be the toughest little bounty-hunter girl in your own particular slum, but I've seen things that would destroy your mind. I am Aspect, third and most favoured apprentice of Master Kanth of the Mageguild"

His posture tense, edgy, on the verge of a drawn knife. His dark eyes darting from side to side, alternately watching his new employer, the girl, and the rest of the room.

Lily

Lily doesn't even blink, more so her brow arching and she turns to face him, her arms remaining crossed over her chest. Silver eyes slowly move over him once again, nose flairing as if inhaling his scent. "You're tainted." The only two words she says before she looks back to Gerry.

In turning to face Aspect, she had caught a glimpse of Ivellias and having taken in everything she needed to. She faces Gerry once again, brushing Aspect off as the childish apprentice who had blurted out his information when he shouldn't have and now more than one person was looking their way.

Porky

Portman had been watching the trio for sometime now, mainly because two were standing over the seated one. But now with the standing male's voice rising and stating his credentials in a defensive manner, Portman thought it best if he moved a little closer...just in case.

Susan was just coming around the corner of the bar; and Portman, keeping eyes on the three denizens at the table, approached the turn also.

"Hey, watch it you oaf!" she said just in time so that Portman was able to stop short of squishing her flat.

"Sorry Susan, I was ..."

"NOT Watching wear you were going!" Susan shouted as she finished Portman 's sentence for him.

Portman watched in anguish as the sexy little dwarf stomped off. He was getting nowhere fast with her, and it was killing him. Portman had never believed in love at first sight, until he had seen Susan walk thought the door of the bar a few nights before. Sure he lusted after her body, but there was more. In her eyes he saw a lovely person to match the lovely curves. He would have given anything for nothing more than a date with her...

Oh well, she'd never...Back to work. "You're tainted," the woman said coolly to the man standing next to her. Straight forward and blunt, he liked that usually, but not now. He could see that the young man, Aspect, was getting agitated, and Portman would have to calm the situation down before fireballs started getting tossed around.

"Good evening, Ma'lady, and gentlemen, I trust everything is well this night," Portman said as he came upon them. "Would you like me to get you some chairs?" he directed this at the two standing.

Portman felt confident that he had not come across as subserviant, but as more of a polite suggestion to sit down.

He waited a second as the two stared at him...

For a moment, all Aspect felt was a blind, unreasoning rage. It was the elemental wizardblood in him, filled with rage and arrogance.

Then, all of a sudden, he relaxed, slowly sinking into the proffered chair.

"Thank you", he told the bartender gravely. He looked at Lily for a moment, and then put his hand into his pocket, and drew out a tiny, shimmering metal sphere. He blew on it lightly, and it unfolded into a little clockwork butterfly. The little automaton unfurled delicate, paper-thin silver wings, and glided upwards to perch on the girl's shoulder.

Aspect smiled uncertainly. "A gift". It was as close as he was going to go to an apology.

Lily

She had heard the whole commotion between the man and the woman, but she hadn't turned around to look at the scene. Why men went after such ungrateful women was beyond her, but she doesn't care. Ebon brow arches as she hears the man's voice, Portman's voice, and she turns around to look at him. Silver eyes look him over slowly, taking everything in. She remembers him from when he had walked in earlier.

"I prefer to stand." Her voice cool, silky, and smooth. That unknown edge forever holding onto her words, showing that something lurked a lot deeper beneath the surface and something that was hell if reckoned with.

She turns right back around, watching Aspect from the corner of her eye and watching as the small butterfly perches on her bare bronze shoulder. Never blinking, her hand moves up to take the butterfly and she looks at it, as if breaking it down into components and what it's made of before she puts it down onto the table. She doesn't toss it or throw it, knowing that Aspect was "apologizing" but that doesn't mean she's going to just let it pass. She stays silent, looking back to Gerry.

"And we would start when?"
