Adding Encyclopedic Extras to a series

so what it seems like you're saying, and please feel free to elaborate, is that you have chapters where there are no sex, that go into details about the world (hopefully with the idea of not just worldbuilding, but advancing the plot or developing the characters in some way? I think that changes a lot of the advice you've gotten, which seemed to be working on the assumption of a supplemental material, but maybe we all just didn't do a good job actually addressing the question you were asking

Hello there! I am quite new to writing solo on a site like this and I am having trouble trying to identify what I should do for the world building portions of the series I am writing.

The series as a whole is filled with Reluctance/ Non-Consent. It is a major plot point for the world as a whole, to the point that they use it to denote the year as a fixed shift in the world.

That said, I also like to build the world with not just sex. Countries, descriptions of towns, political climate, legends, history. They are the same world, there is just no sex in these sections where I expand the world she lives in and give more context to areas.

Should I put it in the Reluctance/Non-con category or should I put it in the Non-Erotic category even though it's tied to other erotic stories?

Are you talking about appendices, or just chapters without sex?

If the latter, I'd recommend putting all portions of the story in r/nc as that's the overall theme of your story. I had a 16 chaptered story and many (most?) of the chapters had no sex, but it was all in r/nc as it was an r/nc story.

If you're talking about the former, it depends. Will there be a map? If so this thread may assist: https://forum.literotica.com/threads/map-for-story.1651933/ Other than that, I don't think it really matters if you put it in r/nc or essays. I wouldn't put it in non-erotic.

You can use the series function to link it up, and keep it persistently the last chapter in the series, even if you publish it first. You could include a note at the beginning of the first chapter to let readers know it's there if you like.

I have a few worlds that I've developed for different projects. Like @anthrodisiac , I also have files with tons of character/location/plot notes that are associated. Those files are pretty much just for me, however, so that I can keep everything straight. Especially since the characters come from many different storylines. Given that they all live in the same world, they make cameos in other stories and I need to know the little details so I don't trip up.

In general, that's how I would suggest approaching it. The details for those countries outside of your R/NC nation might pop into the main storyline a bit at a time (think mention of Canada vs. Gilead in Handmaid's Tale) to help flesh out the overall world. If there are stories to be told outside of the R/NC nation, I would suggest you put them in their own categories (Nonerotic from the sound of it) and connect them either through use of a Tag naming your world or use the Series feature to connect them.

Yeah, it's kind of unclear. My first reading was that they weren't part of the story, but reading it a second time I got the sense that they were actually part of the narrative chapters (to be fair, it was also past 3am, and I edited the post at 4:30am, so tiredness may have contributed to this interpretation some). Reading it a third time (at 2am) it feels like a toss-up, which is why I asked for clarification because the advice changes pretty dramatically between the two. I mean, I literally gave answers for both Hopefully one or the other, or both, is/are helpful
