Adult Toy Store Visit!

Silver bullets are similar to the vibrating egg, but I've never paid more than $15 for one. hehe! There's always a cheap alternative in the store, but be aware that it will only last you a few months. The only vibe I ever owned for more than a year was a 90 vibe with the rotating pearls and clit flicker.

Silver Bullet And it's only $10!

Now, you might need a run down on what I have, huh? Okay. Nipples clamps (2 pair), butt plugs (med & large, large vibrates), 2 dildos (one double-headed), anal probe, 2 sets of anal beads (one on a string, one jelly), ben wa balls, small vibrator (pocket sort of thing), wrist restraints, rope, floggers (2 - one suede, one rubber), riding crop, slapper, Whartburton wheel, blindfold, and a speculum.

How many miles does it have? Jeez maybe you could open up a hardware store.

A pin wheel. Literally, a little wheel with pins on it. Depending on how hard you use it, you can tease, tantalize, leave little red marks, or even puncture the skin.

Pin wheel
Note that this is properly called a Wartenberg wheel. It's used by neurologists to test, for example, paralysis victims - to find where their sensation starts/stops. (What's with the Stockroom's picture - did the girl fall down the stairs?! :p ) See also the recent Lit thread about it.

A horrible little medical device used usually during a gynocological exam to take pap smears and the like. Apparently can also be used in the anus. Basically, you insert it, spread the tongs, and can lock it open, then insert items at will. Saw one that is electrifiable. Yikes.

Speculum
I think an anal speculum is not the same thing as a vaginal speculum. Different shape, I believe...longer and more slender.

not "likely" ..... ARE new.

check out www.fetishauctioneer.com

just another way to buy toys online, along with ebay and the like...

Eeeee...the sex-toys-on-eBay thing still scares me. I know they're new (unless advertised otherwise, I guess), but it's just weird to me. I did take a look at Fetish Auctioneer, though, and it seems kind of pricey. $10-15 for men's briefs?

I try to avoid thinking of specula as sexual devices. I've got some not-so-fond memories from exams where incompetents have actually pinched me with them (so be careful if you use them!!!!). Hurts like hell, and not in a good way. Also, I have a terrible fear of having them associated with sex (and this doesn't take much for me--this conversation may even be enough to do it) to the point where I would go in for my annual and be aroused and start gushing wetness and having my clit get engorged as I'm on the examination table. Not a pretty picture in my mind. I can control my actions, but being a woman and not having to hide erections, I'm used to not worrying about controlling my thoughts, so I have never worked on controlling my own arousal.
That's an interesting point! Never thought of it before. Is your doctor male or female? (Doesn't matter much in that situation, I'm just curious.)

Sorry all for not responding sooner, but it was a, uh, rather busy weekend! But thanks for all the suggestions and discussions - brought a smile to my face on a gloomy June day!

Hmmm...okay, the trip to the adult toy store. I have to admit that I was a bit shy about going in. (Yes, I admit it to everyone now - deep down, I am a rather shy woman.) I did appreciate the fact that my partner selected a store that looked more classy than others I've seen. (is that an oxymoron??) When we walked through the door, one of the clerks came up and asked if it was my first time there. Okay, so I thought the spotlight was on me and for a brief second wanted the floor to open up and swallow me! When I told him it was, he informed me that this store (and possibly others??) gives a 20% discount to women and couples. WOOHOO!! My shopping juices started flowing!!

We walked around looking at the toys, and suddenly my partner goes quiet. I look at a toy, talk about it, and the most he does is smile or chuckle. I finally asked him what was going on, and he kept saying this was for me, that he didn't know what I wanted. I had to tell him differently - toys are meant to be shared!!

I picked out a vibrating bullet, and told him I an idea for it. I was curious about the cock rings, but he wasn't going for it, so I left them alone. Then, simply because I don't have one, I told him I wanted a vibrator - but he had to pick it out! I swear he spent 20 minutes looking at each one! He finally selected one, and we left.

Ah, but how were they used? Well, my partner had this common misconception that vibrating toys are only for women. Silly man! I inserted the bullet anally, and allowed him to set the vibration. (That little sucker is STRONG!) He then entered me, and I held the other vibe on my clit. I know I got off right away, and I do believe he enjoyed it as well. I think. He couldn't speak for 5 minutes, and even then he would only say, "Now that's a real vibrating pussy!" He also stored the toys in his closet, so I wasn't allowed to take them home. I teased him about that, and only got a smile in return. I think this saga will continue - I hope!

The trip was fun, but not something I would necessarily do each week. Some of the stuff was more novelty than actual useful stuff. (cheaply made anal beads is NOT a good investment!) And most of the toys I buy are expensive to begin with, so.... But it is fun.

Okay, now to answer a couple of questions that came up here. First, the price range I decided on. Yes, I know it was low, and I was really only expecting to buy 2, maybe 3, items. As it is, I have good number of toys already, so I'm not starting out new. Heck, when I go on a serious toy buying venture, I easily spend over $200. Those floggers and slappers and other leather toys just are not cheap. This trip was meant to be fun and entertaining, which it was. Serious shopping is another matter!

As previously described, a speculum is the tool an OB/GYN uses for pap smears. Why do I have it? I comes into play during medical scenes. Also, there is a slight humiliation factor - assuming the position, having your lover open you, being totally and completely exposed. And yeah, when I see that at the doctor's office, he really doesn't have to use lube!

A vaginal speculum and an anal speculum are two different creatures. Vaginal speculums are larger and expand much more. I've never used an anal speculum - they scare me. While just about anyone can use a vaginal speculum, only those who know what they are doing should be using an anal speculum. If anyone is interested, if you go to JT's Stockroom, they have both vaginal and anal speculums.

Again, thanks all for the great comments and suggestions! Loved them all!

Why can't women like that fall down MY stairway?

She looks absolutely delicious!

So what say you? How do I make my selections? What would you choose if you were me? (Or my partner?) Oh, and as for price? Hmmmm...let's say between $75 - $100 between the two of us. Too much? Not enough? I am thoroughly excited by this, and would like to know what my fellow Literoticans would choose!
when it comes to sexual satisfaction, money should be no object.
You'll be using these toys for years to come so it will pay for itself. I would spend between $100-$200.
Side note- I don't understand why some people feel embarassed going into adult shops. You are an adult, you have every right to seek out naughty things. :D Sex is universal.

key word sade naughty. Its rather not pc to go into these stores. Glad to see you change your avatar to something i don't mind looking at.

Spending 100-200 hundred dollars on sex toys is rather nuts. I can see over the course of a year spending that. there is no need to spend that all at once unless yo ucan afford it.

I think while most of us are saying "wow" at Chele's purchases, I think she's probably saying things like.....

"Oooooo! Aaaaaaah! Oh MY! Don't stop!!!" :D

Now, you silly man - what makes you think he isn't saying those things? :D Though I'll never tell.....

Sade, there is this little niggling attitude amongst a lot in our society that adult toy stores are filled with horny, frustrated men who have nothing better to do than go to these places to look at peep shows and drool over the covers of video/DVD covers. True? I doubt it. But it's still there. Also, most of these places have reputations as being just a tad sleazy. I have, seriously, no female friends in real life that I would admit ever walking into one. If they ever have or not, I don't know - they would never tell me! The fact that this store is willing to give a 20% discount to women and couples (btw, they didn't specify het couple or gay couple) tells me this attitude still persists. Offering discounts to ladies - or men who bring ladies into the place - has long been a way to attempt to attract a female clientel to a place that sees a possibly untapped market but must deal with an attitude that pervades society.

Plasma, if I were to spend that much money monthly, it would be crazy. My toy purchases are made once or twice a year, and the amount I quoted was what I spend for the year. A well made leather or suede flogger can easily run between $50-$100, depending on where you buy it and quality of workmanship. If you were to buy a custom made flogger, you could easily pass the $200 mark. But then, these things are made to last a long time and go through quite a workout. Also, if a woman wants a custom-made leather corset for play, she can easily drop $300+ for it. But, again, it will last for decades.

Now, I can go out and buy a $10 vibrator, and I do. But I don't expect it to last more than two or three battery changes. I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". I like my toys to last a long time. I normally do a lot of research before buying them and I expect them to perform the way they are meant to. That means a cash outlay in most circumstances. I don't buy many toys, but the ones I have are high quality and will be with me, probably, when I'm sitting out the last few years of my life in some retirement home! :)

this maybe true, but its damn funny. :D :p

no i totally agree with what you said. If you do research on it and spend 200$. You know your getting your money's worth. I respect that. I would do the same thing. Although i don't ever see myself spending 200$ on a dildo. That thing better make my food, be a remote, and a phone for that price. :D

I went with a friend to a sex toy shop the other day and I realized just how damn picky I am!

She spent some cash and I left with something fun to tease my lover with... a feather tickler... and that was it. NOw where is that blindfold?

I kept thinking, well I need to know SPECIFICALLY what I want to do before I just start spending money...

Sheesh how did I ever get so damn, particular?

~laughing~

That was my problem! I faced with all kinds of options, and no specific plan. My partner was in the same mind. I was going to get a feather tickler, but he has this funny conception that toys are something he uses on [/I]me[/I]. Funny man!

But yes, I would agree. Before going into a shop, it's the same as shopping online. Have an idea of what you want to do first. It would make the trip more productive.

Chele...if we were friends I would gladly tell you that I not only walk into sex shops but enjoy checking them out....both for what they offer in products as well as the various ambiance of each one. (My perference is female-owned shops that cater to all sexual orientations.)

On a recent trip to LA I wanted to check out a sex shop there, only thing was I was with a good female friend of mine who had never been in one...she's very conservative. Took a little encouragement on my part but I initiated her. :) Don't think she would say it was the best time she's ever had but she didn't die either! lol Let's just say it wasn't as scary as she thought it might be.

btw got some neat toys....just love going through airport security after!

What's wrong with being so particular lilpriss? After all it's your hard earned money going to please your body! Hell, I have no problem with you being THAT particular! :D

Yes, though it's a good way to explore a new kind of toy...spend $10, see if you like what it does, then spend big bucks to get a quality one....

;)
