AH Anthology

Ok, I've decided which stories I want to submit: The Ice Cream Cone and Survival, Parts I and II. All three of these stories have been H-rated.

The Ice Cream Cone has 8,519 words in it.
Survival Part I has 6,551 words.
Survival Part II has 8,248 words in it.

Now, how do the stories get transmitted? I read the instructions but I'm not sure about that part.

Since they are posted, imp can link to them in her lists, so that they can be 'vetted'. In the meantime, you should reformat them, to the specs Imp has listed somewhere or other. 5 inch by eight inch pages with particular margins. The page size and margins are not so important, though, as the paragraphs.

They should be made "book style," with no white empty line between paragraphs, and beginning, each one, with a tab (or 'indent'). This is labor imp has said she will not do. She will size pages and margins, but not place tabs and remove white lines between.

While you are doing that reformat, be alert. Nitpick. Correct all run-ons and other mistakes. We will try to have someone go over them for grammar, punctuation and spelling, too, but do the very best you can.

Then (and I think this was all you were asking) you email them to Imp, as attachments. PM her for the email address. She is using MS Word format, I believe, but RTF will do, or even Adobe PDF, I think.

The internet.

Possibly the greatest communications tool ever invented and it’s filled with junk. Millions and millions of web pages that do nothing but promise riches from Nigerian bankers and charge the earth for a trick of the light. It promises the world and delivers pop-ups.

Yet amongst these wasted bits and bytes, nestled amongst the spam and the fluff and the marketing tricks, there is ordinary humanity. People. People can meet, make friends, fall in love, fall out of love. They can talk, they can learn, they can listen to points of view they’d never dreamed of. They can also find themselves thinking things they had never dreamed of. Being a person that they’d never dreamed of.

The internet gives us a chance that was not available to previous generations. We can be anyone on the internet. We can reveal everything or nothing and create an entirely separate persona. In our real lives, we live out our days, working hour after hour, doing something utterly mundane and normal. Yet online, we can be someone different, someone dangerous, someone new. Someone sexy. We can come as we aren’t.

When I slip on the comforting vestments of my nom de plume, I become someone else. I become the person who my family would be surprised to meet. I am free. Free from society’s mores and manners, free to say anything, to do anything, to tell anything.

That freedom is why this book exists. Most of the authors in this book are completely normal people. You would pass them on the street and (apart from a brief ogle) you wouldn’t give them a second glance. Yet inside, they are wild and dangerous. Sexual, sensual beings, who aren’t afraid to vocalise their fantasies and who have the skill and ability to transmute those feelings into delicious words.

We come from every corner of the globe, from every walk of life, from every race, country, creed and colour. We have different politics, different religions, different opinions and different sexualities. Yet we come together on one thing – We are free.

This book is a presentation of that freedom. It is here because we want to share what we have by delivering these stories to you. The feelings that each evokes are our gift to you and I sincerely hope that you enjoy them.

If you do, remember this. They are only there because we feel free to express our inner sexuality. And I believe that we make the world and ourselves just that little bit better by doing it. Maybe you should try?

The first, completely unedited, draft of my introductiony-forewardy thingy... Whatever bit Dr_M's not doing! It will undergo an edit in a while (it's hot off the presses, so I can't edit yet), but I wantedto get everyone's opinion on it and to see what you all thought and how soon you can get a replacement for me after you say that it's rubbish.

Honest opinions please?

I would change the last two paragraphs a little. We needn't assume they aren't free sexual beings; indeed, they have had the discernment to buy, ahem, our excellent book.

Like this:

They are only there because we feel free to express our inner sexuality. And I believe that we make the world and ourselves just that little bit better by doing it.

Loverly. :D

RANT: I didn't get my book!

rhino -- was concerned re the top margin ... but 1/4" down? THAT much?

Earl, I think what you've written there is great (although I am inclined to agree with what Cant said above - it comes across as a little "patronising", if I may say so).

However, I'm a little confused and do have a slight problem. Who's bit from the first volume are you taking over from? Gwen or Cant? If it's Cant's introduction, cool (but didn't he mention some of the authors in his intro?). If it's Gwen's, that's where my slight problem lies. She wrote the blurb for the back of the book, and it was just the right length for that. Yours is much too long (excuse me being presumptuous :p) for the blurb. If that's what yours is meant to be, you're gonna have to cut it down considerably, otherwise it won't fit on the back (in a font size big enough to be legible).

I thought the Doc was doing Gwen's bit.

I like what you've written Earl, strikes a good tone for me, yup, I like it :)

Yay for all who've recieved books.

I want one!

I will scan book spread...both copies seem displaced (to me)...be interesting to see if 4degrees had same result...and others...or with on demand..perhaps there is shiftage.

I have been on MANY press checks...and generally there is some variation. THIS is consistant throughout the book...ALL pages appear UP.

Oh, I LOVE that photo! It looks AWESOME!!!! :D

See Doc's thread re v2. All is resolved. :D

In MY world...i would NERALY center the Body of type with the page numbers intruding into the MARGINs. I would give a BIT more spavce on the bottom for optical reasons ANd because of the page numbers.

It looks like the margins are equal if one were to circumscribe a rectangle around ALL printed matter.

make sense?

Well, there's certainly no wasted space, is there? Keeps costs down, but isn't as aesthetically pleasing.

Hmmmm ... doesn't really bother me, though. I can't wait to hold my copy!

I was just showing it to hubby and we both said a couple of lines down at the top would be nice, but it looks fine and a few extra lines wouldn't be worth the extra expense!

Thanks for the photo's Rhino, it's lovelyyou've taken the time to take them so we can all see the finished product:kiss:

Regarding TheEarl's intro-thingy.

Delete the first two paragraphs. IMHO, beginning with a discourse on the internet isn't the strongest possible opening..

Omit the word "I". Use the editorial "we".

When I(WE) slip on the comforting vestments of my(OUR) nom de plume(S), I(WE) become someone else. I(WE) become the person who my family would be (A PERSON OUR FAMLIES MIGHT BE) surprised to meet. I am(WE ARE free. Free from society’s mores and manners, free to say anything, to do anything, to tell anything.

--

This book is a presentation(PRODUCT?) of that freedom. It is here because we want to share what we have by delivering these(PRESENTING OUR?) stories to you(OMIT "TO YOU"). The feelings that(OMIT "THAT') each evokes are our gift to you (OMIT THE REST OF THIS SENTENCE AND THE NEXT PARAGRAPH. IMHO, ECHOING WHAT TATELOU SAID, IT MIGHT COME ACROSS TO SOME AS A BIT PEDANTIC) and I sincerely hope that you enjoy them.

If you do, remember this. They are only there because we feel free to express our inner sexuality. And I believe that we make the world and ourselves just that little bit better by doing it. Maybe you should try?

Other than those nit-picks, finest kind, especially for a first draft.
