"Alien Baby Mamas"
Tyson was already in the club at a second level mezzanine table when Jon entered. The two could sense one another, despite the heat and sexual energy rising from the 500+ writhing dancers populating the main and mezzanine dance floors.
Jon looked up and found Tyson as the man stood and casually waved his way. Jon nodded to his Partner, then made his way through the thick crowd of often sweating bodies. He had just reached the top of the second flight of steps when a woman bumped into him. He snatched her upper arm without even thinking, causing her to turn suddenly with an instantly angered expression.
"Hey!" she hollered. "What gives?"
"I am sorry," Jon said, quickly releasing her. "I thought you were falling. I was only trying to help."
That wasn't the reason he'd detained her, of course. He'd sensed, through his skin and nose both, the sexual pheromones rising from her dance-heated body and knew in an instant that she was in heat.
Her expression of anger faded a bit as she looked him up and down, then smiled. "Tux is a bit much, isn't it?"
Jon looked at his outer wear but didn't understand her comment. He asked, ignorant of how silly -- and inappropriate -- he sounded, "Will this fashionable attire not attract a human female for the purpose of breeding and pro-creation?"
The woman stared in amazement for a moment, then burst out laughing. She slapped Jon's chest playfully before turning and descending the stairs. She swayed her body a bit more dramatically than necessary, then looked behind her just to ensure that the crazy one was watching.
Jon was, of course, watching her until she reached her friends at a table on the main floor. He continued onward to join Tyson, whose attention was set on a pair of women dancing together on the small first mezzanine dance floor.
"I have located a human female, Partner Tyson," he said bluntly, skipping the pleasantries altogether, "who is at her peak and prime for breeding and--"
"And...!" Tyson cut in loudly, desperate to shut up his less experienced Mating Team Partner before he was overheard at the nearby tables. Turning to face Jon he said in a lower volume, "...I found two myself ... but I'm not going around announcing to everyone within ear shot why we are here, am I?"
He looked over Jon's partial tux ensemble and smiled in dismay. "What the hell are you wearing?"
Jon was at a loss, again looking himself over with a confused look. "What is wrong with the apparel I have chosen? The Memory Download seemed to--"
Tyson made a zip it gesture before his lips, looked about for prying eyes, then leaned in closer to his Partner and said, "Oh my god, did you finish the Contemporary Public Norms Modules before they transported you to partner with me?"
Jon raised an eye brow, repeating with a wry tone, "Oh my god...? Really? I could ask you the same, Partner Tyson. I believe that that particular phrase is, as they say, Oh, so yesterday."
Tyson smiled broadly, only to prevent himself from growling at his Partner. Slowly, almost through clenched teeth, he said, "No, they don't say that anymore ... at least ... I don't think they do... Forget it."
Tyson turned away to look down upon the two women dancing erotically with one another. He thought about what his Partner had told him and about how he'd responded.
Fact of the matter was that by the time the Intelligence agents on Earth sent their most recently gathered intel back to Altura; by the time that Intel made it to the Memory Downloads for the Earth Insertion Program; by the time the Breeders received those memory injections and were given a few weeks to role play scenarios; and, finally, by the time those Breeders were transported to Earth to begin their assignment of finding suitable hosts for Alturian offspring, most of what the volunteers knew was months, even years old. And in this day and age on a fast moving Earth, years might as well be decades to a being from Altura.
"Those two," Tyson said, nodding his head toward the woman below. "I can smell them from here. At least one of them is Prime ... possibly both of them. Problem is, I don't think they're into men."
"What does that mean," Jon asked innocently, "you do not think they are into men."
Tyson looked to his Partner and repeated as he had said it, "I don't think they're into men. Don't, not do not ... they're, not they are!"
Jon looked away, understanding his mistake. "I am trying to-- I'm trying to learn, Partner Ty--"
"Tyson!" the other man cut in, laughing. He turned and grasped his Partner by the shoulders, telling him, "Loosen up, pal. Down here, we're Friends, not Partners. That word in this society, spoken by one man about another, has a meaning that will not help us get laid, you understand?"
Jon stared blankly at his friend.
"You don't understand," Tyson said softly, barely noticeable over the loud music. He spoke higher, "Okay. We have three Primes to choose from--"
"From which to choose--"
"To choose from!" Tyson was losing his patience. "Since you are new, I'll let you choose: the woman you almost knocked down the stairs, who thinks you dress funny. Or the two women below us who probably don't prefer men. I don't know if we have enough Charm to convince one or both of them to leave with us, but we can try."
When Tyson spoke the word Charm, he meant Charm with an upper case 'C'. One of the advantages that Alturians had over many of the species they had visited over their millennia of inter-planetary travel was Charm. The powerful charisma-like ability often made it possible to convince members of those species -- sometimes all of the members of those species -- to do things they typically wouldn't voluntarily do.
Tyson had been part of the Earth Insertion Program for six months already, although he'd only bred with females who had already been proven by other Partners in the Program. He had no idea whether or not his and Jon's Charm would work on fresh stock. In the end, it wouldn't matter: if they were unsuccessful in convincing their chosen female to breed with them voluntarily, well...
"Okay, let's do this," he said, patting Jon on the back.
