The netgun had served its usefulness. One shot to fire, one Predator laid to waste. Kingston let the weapon drop from her hands with a heavy splash. No sense carrying around what couldn't help. The synthetic did, however, replace the pistol in the waistline of her pants. Ammunition for it was virtually guaranteed should she wander the base long enough. The medic's bag taken up again as well. The tri-barbed gun was readied in one hand, the bloodied knife in the other.
The objective was still clear. Reach a ranking officer or computer terminal. Relay word of both Predator and the Mixbreed's presence. Assess the situation inside the base and proceed from there. The difference now was that there was likely to be several more obstacles in the way, invisible and ruthless. Caution was paramount.
Leading with her projectile weapon, Kingston began to exit the showers and the bathrooms. Her eyes stayed wary of unnatural air and she took every corner with a certain expectancy. There would be many more dead before this ordeal was over. Part of her task was to ensure she wasn't one of them.
