We've seen how social networking technology allows flash crowds to form and then move on and around police deployments to loot at will.

We've seen how these mobs are motivated by a righteous sense of entitlement to a life time of government support funded by debt to be paid off by other people. And if that support is reduced they'll burn their own cities to the ground.

If Obama is losing the 2012 election. If the Senate falls to Republicans as well. If the massive federal deficit is slashed.

Who here doubts that our own cities will BURN, BABY, BURN?

I've watched the punks in England take advantage of the restraint showed by the cops. It's kind of hard to do anything other than defend yourself when you're holding onto a shield, though it is a great tool for knocking over assholes.
I think shields and nightsticks used a la the Dark Ages as shield and sword would be cool.
Block the kick from the punk with the shield, then come across with the nightstick hard on the punk's shoulder, really stepping into it. Move on to next punk and tell the ambulance crews to take their time dealing with the wounded.
Wear gloves, too. All that hard hitting with the nightstick does take a toll.
As for National Health, certainly you can't ignore those shattered shoulders. However, patients would only get half the recommended painkillers.
Finally, after recovery the punks can enjoy six months of hard labor community service.
