I've never ridden on Amtrak, nor have I traveled on it. ;)

I can honestly say there are states I have visited that I am unsure whether or not I had sex whilst visiting... which is why I am estimating 12. I'll have to keep better track (pun intended) in the future.

I have taken Amtrak but never very far and I have never had a private room, but I’ll admit I am falling in love with the idea..

Or maybe I just need a vacation. It’s easy to romanticize travel by rail...
 
Sex on a train is absolutely lovely. My ex and I took an overnight train ride to our honeymoon destination, and loved how the rhythm of the rails added to the experience.
 
21 states and one territory, the best that I can recall. Mexico, England, France, Germany, South Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan, too. Maybe 22 states; I want to say I did it once in Ohio, but my memory is hazy and I can't recall if we went that far.

There's a great bit in "City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie that explains it a little, but in a different context:

That is a pretty fair description. The rhythm of the rails sets the pace and you abandon yourself to it. Meanwhile, scenery is flashing by outside, so different from your bedroom and so stimulating, and it enhances the experience even more. The faint sounds of the wheels on the track adds another unusual note to it all. Overall, an absolute delight.

Now I want to find a lover and book a train ride!

I think it's 19? Basically it's any state we've ever spent the night in.

The next time I am on the New Hampshire Turnpike on the way to Maine, I ought to try to take advantage of one of their interminable traffic jams and knock another state off the list.

Many States... one time in Fla. I got a BJ from the start to the finish on the old Seven Mile bridge going to Key West. By the time we got to the other end the traffic was backed up half a mile behind me when I pulled over.
