Age verification and anonymity are mutually exclusive, so absolutely no way. And don't say that there are safe 3rd party services. Your ID is NEVER safe if you put it out there. There are plenty of sites with erotic user content with age verification. Go play on one of those or start your own site.

I don't believe we have AI bots submitting stories. We may have writers using AI to help create stories. And however they check for AI, it fires on specific criteria which we aren't privy to. Without knowing what the issue is that triggers it, an author might have a technique they use that trips it. Any time stories don't pass by the automated reader, Laurel has to go through them to determine if they go up or not. That is what creates the backlog. The more stories that fail, for whatever reason, the larger the backlog becomes.

They can use their parents' CCs to create accounts at adult sites, explore with AI, and find out anything they want to know about sex, violence, rock & roll, drugs, and how to get away with murder. If you don't know that, you haven't met a child over the age of 12, like ever. I'm not giving my CC to Lit or anyother site for the privilege of giving away my work.

Because they don't want to leave, nor do they want to stop writing here.

This thread is part legit frustration-and its the same frustration every author here deals with at times here, frustration with trolls, with the sites issues and refusal to acknowledge them, etc...its the same playing field for everyone, some just accept it more than others.

The other reason is attention. Every "I'm not writing here anymore" is posted with the intent of getting "No, please don't go!" responses. Getting people to admire their 'strength' which is laughable, this is a free writing site, this is a first world problem, they're not battling cancer here. And trying to get other people to join in with their disenchantment of the site.

There was a time Em was the staunchest defender of this site and them and their friends would not be kind to people who questioned anything here. Now Em has had some issues, some legit and are the same for everyone else, and some they have brought on themselves by all but begging for it, and because they are dealing with the issues others have always had NOW those issues matter and are just awful.

There is no denying this site has its flaws and they can be maddening, but the level of drama and martyrdom displayed here is pure performance art.
