I’m sure I posted at least part of this story here before. But I know not where.
I was living in my first apartment. Had a severe crush on a neighbor, Jeff. We lived in a no pets building. Jeff had a contraband orange tabby. His cat was often at my place. We’d sit together on my porch, enjoying the flowers. I loved that cat!
Jeff was deaf. His roommate told me not to bother trying to talk to him unless I was fluent in sign language. I tried. I really did. But I never got fluent.
Around this same time, I had been gifted with 3 beautiful pairs of panties. Bright colors. Silky and lacy. But…. Someone kept taking them! I did laundry in the communal laundry room. I’d wash my clothes. But the pretty panties wouldn’t be there when I took the laundry home.
Also, I’d have to wait to use the dryer. A guy kept leaving his clothes in there. Eventually I’d take them out, fold them, and make repairs such as sewing on buttons.
I left the guy a note. Said each time I had to do his laundry, I would take a sock. I finally wound up with a grocery bag of socks.
Jeff’s roommate told me I’d been taking Jeff’s socks. Jeff knew it was me and thought it was funny.
I brought the socks back. All of a sudden, my panties stopped going missing. I surmised that Jeff had been taking them.
Then one day, I got a party invitation. Jeff and his roommate were moving.
I did go. Spent the night hanging out with the roommate, playing backgammon and such. Only caught a glimpse of Jeff.
Now that I think about it., the roommate was a great guy. I should have had a crush on him. But I didn’t.
They moved away.
Not long after, Jeff came to my door. He looked sad. Placed a note in my hand. It read, “Have you seen my cat?”. I hadn’t. Then I was sad. We hugged. That was the only time we touched.
He left.
The next morning, I found his cat, dead, in my flower garden. Weird because I could tell it been dead for sone time. Sorry. Trying not to give TMI here.
I had seen Jeff’s car, the next block over. But he must have been visiting. Never saw it again. I knew the name of the place and city where he worked. No internet in those days. I couldn’t locate the place or find a phone number. So I couldn’t tell him of the demise of his cat.
Anyway…. That’s my story. Ever had a crush that may have also been crushing on you, but it never came to fruition?
