Huh? Cafe Nigh- Oh yeah!

Its been so long I was starting to forget about it.

(Besides, after all the ridicule you guys put me through back then I should.)

Uh ... When have we stop ... :p

I was in two mystery threads: One I started about a high school reunion murder, and one I was really excited about set in Victorian times that I don't see any more but was really well thought out.

It was just before I went offline that it started.

I loved the murder mystery thread. People pulled out though... as they always seem to do.
Well, looks like we have a few options open.
Paranormal.
Mystery.
Time Travel
Action adventure.
And, post apocalyptic scavenger...

Not to mention a news broadcast parody that shows the insights and inner workings of Plot and role play to outsiders.

Ok, so, we've got ideas, next step I think would be to post something, and see who joins. Let's get this going, and try to make a few threads live up to some of these expectations.

Please check out the Thrusday night discussion thread I just started, Mr. P

Hy, somewhere over in MSN-land I have an old community called "The Luna Lupa" that has a lot of carny links on it. I had it for my werewolf game, but you might find some usual stuff over there.

How about a group of post-apocalyptic scavengers come across a time machine and find that the world is only post-apocalyptic because someone used the machine to go back and change history, causing a nuclear war, and the group must solve the mystery of who caused the mess and why and undo it. When they meet the culprit, I'm sure there'll be plenty of action adventure.

Quiet, good idea. because instead of just contending with a different era, say prohibition, or swashbucklers, which is fine in of itself. You add a time loop, and time loops are just fun logic all by themselves. For example I still like the concept in Terminator 2 how skynet caused it's own existence. Just fun to try and imagine how you'd end up with a circle in time like that.

Polite I need to go and skim threw the thread you chose and then I'll put in my ten cents.

for a D&D type thread

What happens to old heros?

Dragons are all slain, damsels have become houswives, and the old sword belt is a little tight.

Time for the party of adventures to go check out that old keep the king gave them and settle down to the golden years.....

I'm thinking 30's-50's age group of adventurers who are trying to settle down to the quiet life....but there's always something isn't there?

So between trying to fix the leaking roof and boarder disputes there's evil cropping up it's ugly head and GASP! social events .

Read Count Scar for an example.

I'm thinking more role-playing and character develment than hacking and slashing.

Your thoughts?

Heros past their prime? Wow, sounds... sounds like some real fun. You rarely see heros these days with an aching back, and a graying beard.
Hee hee.
I'll sign up.

That sounds like agreat deal of fun. Although that is way past the age I normaly do my characters. Oh well a challange can be fun.

And now, for some answers to the questions:

The thread can be as much as like real life as you like: Meaning sometimes it's funny, sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it hurts so bad the only thing left to do is laugh about it.

I've got the opening bit written up and some background info, but of course left it at work

And I don't mind if you bring a PC that your are currently running in his/her younger years in another game, as long as they don't conflict to much. I don't run Monty Haul games, as a rule, as they aren't realistic. Most adventures spend two skelks for every one they loot! ;)

IE: We begin this game and your PC doesn't have a Flask of Endless water. But a week later his younger self discovers one. Unless there's a good reason why his olderself didn't have it around (I packed it in my other trunk) the older self can make up some great story about how he USED to have a Flask of Endless water, but, see...there were these twin sisters in Murrdo.....

I'm actually hoping that telling tales around the fire will be a big part of this thread...

In fact, there was this time....

But would it have like a comedic overtone, or just focus on realism? I'm cool with either.

I'm thinking comic overtones, which is what seems to happen in real life anyway.

I'd also like to see songs and storytelling, myth making....

Or do you think I'm asking for too much?

I'll make the world next week and promise to have it up by Friday latest.

:D

I'm still working on the carnival thread.

I'm trying to make it without it being another legendary Hybird lemon

So Polite your hopeing for something a little Like Canabery Tales in a way. As the stories go back and forth they need not be funny but by no means do they need to be serious. But unlike canabery tales, this thread is to have a significant current ongoings as well, rather then a contest while walking many miles.

hey polite .. I really like the sound of that thread as well .. when you post it I will join for sure :)

The nervous wave of fantasy

I would rather play something like D&D, a fantasy adventure with mages, knights and etc. I am attempting to start one called the Continent of Habrin...we will see if it ever gets off the ground. LOL I am so nervous it won't and even more nervous it will. I haven't done this in a while. *bites her nails*
