And the worst song of the 1980's is...

Of course, the worst song of the '80s would've been a country song.... Just pick one, doesn't matter which... Cause they all fucking suck....

Amen to that.

This is kinda neat...

I was just doing some research on amazon.com (looking for the name of a song I'm gonna download from napster) - and I came across this "Best of the '80s" disc. The listing on amazon has the names of the songs, but not the artists... So I thought I'd cut and paste the list here and see how many of these people could figure out....

At first glance, I know 16 of the 30 artists from this list. I won't say which ones so I don't ruin anyone else's fun....

1. Lebanon
2. Chant No.1 (I Don't Need
3. Geno
4. Love On Your Side
5. Making Plans For Nigel
6. I Ran
7. Golden Brown
8. Intuition
9. New England
10. Rise
11. Wishful Thinking
12. Eyes Without A Face
13. Tide Is High
14. Sign Of The Times
15. Big Apple
16. Do You Wanna Hold Me
17. Love Missle F1-11
18. Karma Chameleon
19. Temptation
20. If I Was
21. Is There Something I Shou
22. Dancing With Tears In My
23. Wishing (If I Had A Photo
24. French Kissin In The U.S.
25. Senses Working Overtime
26. It's My Life
27. Hyperactive!
28. Human
29. Psycho Killer (Live)
30. It Ain't What You Do It's

I would suggest at this point you stop and make your list without reading further down into the thread (it's more fun that way, dammit. Trust me).

Ok...... Got your list ready?????

No peeking now......Ok?

OK..... go ahead and post your list, LOL.

Geez, the ultimate hate song of the 80's gotta be.
"When will I be famours" by Bros.

*Throwing handgranate, nukes, TNT and big containers of pure Nitroglycerine*

I HATE THAT SONG AND FEEL LIKE PUKING WHEN SOMEONE PLAYS IT!!!!

Now, where's Deborah when I need to borrow a gun to put this fucking song out of it's misery?

I can honestly say I like all of the songs listed so far and can sing along to the majority of them.
In fact, if I heard them on the radio I would sing with them, in fact, I often do.
"Singin' on a Mexican Radio.. radio.."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ :cool: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Dances and sings in her car everyday while going to work*
oooh, I got green eyes . . .
Okay, some people liked Mickey. How about that lameass song that Eddie Murphy sang with Rick James, Party All The Time. Clearly, that had to grate on every person's nerves. Unless you bought it in a boxed set with Don Johnson's album.
What's with all of this XTC fandom on Napster, anyhow? I knew 19 of the artists on the list but there were a few truncated ones, so I wasn't sure of all the titles so I might have known a few more.
If there are any Dave Barry fans, I have a book of his. It is a book of "bad songs." It cracks me up every time I read it....
For those of you that haven't heard of this guy, he is a newspaper coumnist and and basically writes a lot of articles that piss people off, as he is rather opinionated.
So, around the end of the eighties/early 90's or so, he called on people to vote for the worst song ever... LOL... and several people wrote in with very passionate feelings for the songs they didn't like!
If anyone wants quotes.. let me know, otherwise... it's an easy, silly, mindless, "for the hell of it," sort of read.
I can't seem to recall any 80's song I hated. Some were kind of lame but the rest were great. I wish I could live in the 80's for ever.
Bonnie
I jusy had the most awful case of deja vu. On the radio they just played an 80's song that I've selectively forgotten all about.
Sabrina: boys boys boys.
Someone give me a anastetic shot. I need to calm down again. Grrrrrrrrr.
That stupid "Rock Me, Amadeus" song.
Oh, and ANYTHING by Kagagoogoo.
I like the Mexican Radio song, though, mostly the part about barbequed iguana.
My girl likes to party all the time .. party all the time
that is so fucking funny William .. that song has GOT to be lamest 80s song of them all .. i mean how could anyone even put that song in the same category as the rock classic "Hotel California", anyway? well that's just my 2¢.
and Don Johnson had an album? ... he actually sang? .. i must have missed that .. or maybe i forgot???? maybe i'm getting senile in my old age .. maybe in this case that is a good thing .. lmao ..
No wait just a darn minute.....
Everything from the eighties rocked!!!!
Well....okay maybe that song Centerfold by the J Geles Band was a bit annoying.
Not only an album, but a video! It stunk so bad MTV brought in Vanilla Ice to burn it.
Exsqueeze me?
I happened to like "centerfold" by the J giles band!!
My angel is a centerfold na na nanana nana na na!!
I loved "Centerfold", totally sexist, but then I loved the J.Geils Band,the lead singer had the best butt. I guess I will put "Shadow Dancing" on the worst song of the 70's list, it has to be the worst song of some decade. I also liked Dexy's Midnight Runners, anyone that has a violin in their band is okay by me, plus not too many Irish rockers out their, other than U2.
when is a fox like a skunk...
I really thought it was that song "AH Shaddup Your Face" but someone told me it was late seventies so...
Touch Me by Samatha Fox
If anyone has noticed three of us spelled the same band three different ways, so what's the proper spelling of the J geles band?
Centerfold sucked!!!!! I'm sorry Naked Hunny, but the lead singer, I think his name was Peter Cotyote or Wolf was the most unsexy guy in the 80's. :p
You are right on Making Plans for Nigel, it is XTC and the Billy Idol song. I think Sign of the Times is actually The Belle Stars since Prince left out the "F" in "OF". I remember Heaven 17's Temptation but I would imagine the one they are looking for is New Order's song (Oh I got Green Eyes, Oh I got Blue Eyes, etc) which was probably the biggest hit of the Temptations (after My Girl, of course). It's My Life is TalkTalk and Psycho Killer (live) would be Talking Heads.
Now back to being the Mayor of Simpleton!
oh sweet Senora .. of course you have not offended me dear .. everybody has the right to their opinion .. i was just shocked that's all .. Hotel California IS a much-loved rock classic .. it is so funny cause after i read your post, i heard the song yesterday on the radio on my way to work and thought about you! ... ummm unless of course you WANT to make it up to me ... any ideas, luv?
btw ... i thought of a horrible song too ..
"I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt" by Right Said Fred .. was that in the 80's or the 90's? either way it sucks big time .. lol.
also btw Peter Wolf is hot hot hot! .. oh isn't that the name of an 80s song too .. "Hot, Hot Hot" .. man they just don't stop .. lmao ..
We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine
Aha .. i THOUGHT so .. i looked it up .. Hotel California was released in 1976 ... so it does NOT qualify for the worst song of the 80s anyway .. LMAO .. no seriously ..
Hotel California
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here
Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget
So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...
Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They're livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis
Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave!
Love the Eagles, Isabella, my fave is Life in the Fast Lane.
Weirdest, if not worst, song of the 80's is (Havin' a) Reggae Christmas by Bryan Adams. That song, and it's accompanying video imagery of a dreadlocked PeeWee Herman in a Santa Hat, have been stuck in my head for over 15 years now. Not that I don't like his other work, but that one they can leave off the air for the rest of time and it'll still be rollin' through my brain.
*maybe it's residue induced* ;)
I guess I have been outnumbered as far as the Centerfold song. Ok, I'll button up but there is not a single person on this board who can tell me that Don Johnson's one semi hit "Heartbeat" didn't sucked. That song sucked ass!!!!
Speaking of actors who made song in the 80's does anyone remember tha Eddie Murphy song with Rick James? Now that was a party song.
"My girl wants to party all the time party all the time, party all the time!!!
