Just my damn luck -- I find a congenial thread after the show closes! I loved the classic burlesque shows of the late 1950s and 1960s -- also the go-go dancing late 1960s and 1970s. As a teenager I worked in a "magic shop" -- a store that sold magic tricks -- it was about 2 blocks away from the Grand Burlesque Theatre in St. Louis -- the owner of the magic shop was a well-known show-biz pro, so the burlesque comics would come over to chat -- often their stripper wives or girlfriends would accompany them -- I got to know them, and even though I was underage (only 17 years old) they got me in to see the burlesque shows -- my favorite striptease artistes were Tinker Bell and Princess Domay (or Do-May) -- the Princess wore an elaborate feathered Cherokee headdress -- Tinker Bell had been trained to be a ballet dancer, and she got me interested in ballet -- thanks to her I developed a lifelong interest in ballet. A real cultural influence.

Anyway, later on when striptease artistry began to be replaced by lap-dancing, I lost interest -- it wasn't "glamorous" enough for my taste -- and it was too expensive.
