Hey this all sounds really interesting to me... Unfortunately I am not exactly sure about everything you know? I read over everything and got a little lost but I would be willing to learn if you guys wanted to teach me...

I know that I watched a lot of animes on mechas and such.... Just the finer details evade me.

Well as I understand it we are skipping details and jst makeing a normal rp, we just happen to be figuing out how to build the setting, so all imput is valid. So the question becomes what sort of story are you interested in?

Well at the moment I'm getting the basic idea going, I'll try to fill in the details once we know what we're going to have set.
No point in making a detailed world and setting if the mechs end up bracking the rules or don't fit the setting.
Kinda like bringing in a gun to a sword fight type thing
But yeah we'll work out more details as we get thing set.

Actually I want to ask what sort of feel are you going for?

Realistic: Like battletech, where every victory is hard fought and we can die at any time.
High powered: Kind of like the original gundam, where we can plow through most enemies reasonably quick.
Over the top: Like gundam wing, where a named pilot can never die unless they are also fighting a named pilot, or some other big challenge.

Just to check, because I usually RP over in the SRP forum - sex is still allowed/supposed to be part of the story I hope? I really have no interest in combat, although training exercises might be fun. I want to be either a new mecha who does not have a pilot yet or an experienced mecha whose pilot died or retired who has been assigned to work as a teacher until I get a new pilot. My personal story would be a romance between myself and this new pilot.

Any how on the orp board sex is allowed although generaly surounded by a long romance or interesting plot. I guess the basic rule is sex can't be the focus of the thread but still can be present.

Somewhere along the lines of high powered, although it will depend on the enemy mecha.
as far as sex what ever it's not why I started this thread =D but we can throw something in there down the road ^^

Of course I was trying something like a Bladerunner sort of thread, not a giant mecha thread...

Please don't tell me that the pilot climbs up through the mecha's... Uh... Vagina... Into the cockpit.

Well see, that's why I was wishing for the alien 'mechs' to be magical or shapeshifters. But sex in virtual reality might work fine for machine powered by an NI (natural intelligence, human mind which has bee computer-ified).

But yeah a romance with some plot as well as occasional steamy sex scenes was what I had in mind.

At the moment I am developing a DnD character I made about a year and half ago. It is a female half paragon human half just about everything special, but I was looking at the factotum class from dungeon scape and decided to make her a brother, which became a half brother paranoid about his siblings finding him. So suddenly Celia's father is a whore with a bunch of children and guards the secret source of god-hood. The brother I am working on has hidden the map to fathers location and disguised himself with a belt of gender transformation and a necklace of proof against detection. So I seem to have a campaign forming suddenly.

I don't think the shapeshifting mecha was my idea, but its simple enough, Transformers.

Shapeshifting mechas were my idea. I already developed them for a story I started to write. Basically they work like this: there is a (alien or fantasy, take your pick) race of creatures which in their natural state are like amoebas. They have subatomic control over the matter that makes up their bodies and any other matter they touch, and they are also empathic with certain humans - whichever ones happen to be on their wavelength, which is maybe 10% of humans, and a different 10% for each shifter. Through spending a lot of time and paying a lot of attention to a particular human this empathy can evolve into a full telepathic lifebond.

The shifters are not greedy or aggressive because they can 'eat' rocks, dirt, whatever and have no need for shelter from the weather or any possessions. If they suffer from anything it is boredom, and also the desire to help anyone they are empathic with. A group of humans surrounded the home territory of a group of shifters, basically built a military academy around them and semi-enslaved them. The young shifters are bribed into participating in military training and then basically not allowed out into the outside world unless and until they have bonded with a human soldier, because the humans don't want their enemies to get ahold of any of these shifters.

In combat the shifters function mainly as armor which quickly changes properties to block or reflect different types of attack, letting their human partner do the actual attacking with a sword or magic. The shifters also function as transportation by shaping themselves into something like a horse or something like a self-propelled hang glider. Overall the shapeshifter mechas were intended to function much like ninja powers in Naruto or soul swords in Bleach.

Any one here seen Tekkaman Blade? The main character doubles in size and becomes a mecha, or grows a mecha around himself, or something. I used to like the series when it was on, never saw the whoe thing though.

Anyway D-Boy's armor is still more or less a suit, it can't think on it's own and can not act on it's own will so it's a bit different then what we're looking for.

although you could go with the newer Transforums Movie idea, AI units, although that all but cuts out sex, and also limits you to a few shapes... Although if you take from the cartoon version you could be able to pick a forum, scan something and use it or what not.

Yeah shapeshifters are just to powerful for the most part so we'd have to limit them ya know. I've watched to much Star Trek/Star Wars/Star Gate to know that Shape shifters can cause a lot of trouble X_x but we'll see.
