.....by Kevin Costner.

I recently watched 'DAnces With Wolves' for the very first time because a friend of mine gave it to me as a birthday gift.

A lot of my friends have virtually kicked my ass for not having seen this epic but I never really got the hype.

Now having watched it I discovered that it's worth every Oscar it got and probably more.

A truly great epic with superb actors, beautiful cinematography, a great direction and astonishing music. (Hell, I gotta get this soundtrack)

Anyone else like this classic movie ? I feel guilty for not having known it for so long.

The only annyoing thing is that the Special DVD edition I got doesn't work on my DVD player so I'll have to sit through the four hours in front of my PC. Grrrrr.

This is a great movie Snoopy - I've watched it many times.

I love that movie!

And the music is beautiful, too.

Even the many Costner critics had to approve!

:)

Another Costner movie that bombed that I really enjoyed was "The Postman". Simple storyline but put to screen nicely.

I heard a lot bad about it but since I usually like Costner's movies I think I should go watch it. ;)

By the way, did anyone else was close to tears when Cisco or Socks were killed in DWW ???

Yeah, everyone seems to dump on "The Postman" and "Waterworld" too...but both seemed to be pretty good escapist fair to me. (Although, having read the novel by David Brin that "The Postman" is based off of, I'd have to say it could have been a much better movie if it had adhered a little closer to the book.)

Yeah, Waterworld is a very good old-school action movie in the days when political correctness was bullshit and heros with punchlines were considered the ultimate role model. :D

You should get the soundtrack Snoopy, it's definitely worth it. The composer, John Barry, is actually quite famous and I'm sure you've heard him before without having realized it. Some of his more famous scores include those for Out of Africa, Somewhere in Time, Indecent Proposal, as well as several James Bond films.

You could check out his website here.

Water World recieived HUGELY negative reactions from many critics due to the fact that it went so far over budget and its shooting time took much longer than scheduled.

If one remembers that the production was hit by a big storm which destroyed all their sets just before shooting so that everything had to be pushed back while the sets were rebuilt, this is understandable.

(Also, the additional budget costs were paid by the insurance settlement.)

But where does it say popular critics have to use logic?

I liked Waterworld simply because I wanted to be that character. If I could breathe water, I'm not sure you'd ever see me out of it. One of the few times I've really envied a character in an action flick.
