Another thread?........ ......i just can't keep up with this Board:(
Thx for the tip.

Ok. This is ARaynes, in a new form. I am doing this so that we can keep the get together on this one. Just to let you know, I have set the date for Sept 6th. I am currently trying to get someone on the phone for the park reservations!@ Darn busy signal. You all will be getting a pm soon as invitation.

Araynes I would love to come to the picnic,I just found the thread and I hope I am not to late?? I am in Arlington, just let me know if you still need a donation for the park, I can handle that part,or if you still need us to bring food let me know on that as well, this sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Finally! Got on the phone with Parks and Recreation. Here is the thing. To rent a pavilion it is 15 dollars per hour. So, how long do we want to rent if for?

Also, Mike, I put you on the buddy list. Thanks for saying you would like to help. All help is appreciated.

Now, tell me how long should we have this thing?

2 hr?

3hr?

4hrs?

5hrs?

Tell me and then I will total everything up.

As soon as I know that I will reserve the Pavilion and have the invites, (pm) sent out.

Hey Hey Hey from Texas! How are all yall Texans today? Just got back home this morning! Sending out some lovin' from Waco!!  :rose:

What do you think about

3 or 4 hours with time on either end for setting up & cleaning up?
That's about what one of my family reunions does and it seems about enough time. I don't really know for this group, but it's a place to start from (and see what others think). Thanks for putting up the Park people, ARaynes. We appreciate it!

That sounds about right to me, too. Besides, we can always go somewhere else later if we want to, right?!

Dallas

I know one or two of you who will appreciate this!

First you must learn to pronounce the city name. It is DAL-LUS, or DAA-LIS depending on if you live inside or outside LBJ Freeway.

Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Dallas has its own version of traffic rules..."Hold on and pray."

There is no such thing as a dangerous high-speed chase in Dallas. We all drive like that.

All directions start with, "Get on Beltline"...which has no beginning and no end.

The morning rush hour is from 6 to 10. The evening rush hour is from 3 to 7.

Friday's rush hour starts Thursday morning.

If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended, cussed out and possibly shot. When you are the first one on the starting line, count to five when the light turns green before going to avoid crashing with all the drivers running the red light in cross-traffic.

Construction on Central Expressway is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment. We have had so much fun with that we have added George Bush Freeway and the High Five to the mix.

All unexplained sights are explained by the phrase, "Oh, we're in Fort Worth!"

If someone actually has their turn signal on, it is probably a factory defect.

All old ladies with blue hair in Mercedes have the right of way. Period.

Inwood Road, Plano Road, NW Highway, East Grand, Garland Road, Marsh Lane, Josey Lane, 15th Street, Preston Road... all mysteriously change names as you cross intersections (these are only a FEW examples)! The perfect example of this is what is MOSTLY known as Plano Road. On the south end it is known as Lake Highlands Drive, cross Northwest Highway and it becomes
Plano Road, go about 8 miles and it is briefly Greenville Ave, Ave K, and Highway 5. This road ends in Sherman.

A trip across town (east to west) will take a minimum of four hours, although many north/south freeways have unposted minimum speeds of 75.

The minimum acceptable speed on the Dallas North Toll Road is 85. Anything less is considered downright SISSY!

The wrought iron on windows near Oak Cliff and Fair Park are not
ornamental.

It is possible to be driving WEST in the Northbound lane of EAST NORTHWEST Highway. Don't let this confuse you.

The North Dallas Tollway is our daily version of NASCAR. It also ends in Sherman....

LBJ is called "The Death Trap" for two reasons: "death" and "trap."

If it's 100 degrees, Thanksgiving must be next weekend.

If it's 10 degrees and sleeting or snowing, the Fort Worth Stock Show is going on.

If it's rained 6 inches in the last hour, the Byron Nelson Golf Classic is in the second round if it is spring -- and it is the Texas State Fair if it is fall.

If you go to the Fair, pay the $5.00 to park INSIDE Fair Park. Parking elsewhere could cost up to $2500 for damages, towing fees, parking tickets, etc. If some guy with a flag tries to get you to park in his "yard," run over him.

Any amusement parks, stadiums, arenas, race tracks, airports, etc., are conveniently located as far away from EVERYTHING as possible so as to allow for ample parking on grassy areas.

If you need to ask for directions, get ALL the names of the street you are being told to turn onto...we intermix numbers, letters & names for the same roads.

If your Mapsco is more than a few weeks old, throw it out and buy a new one.

"Ya'll COME BACK!"

3 to 4 hours sounds great to me as well, maybe just get it for 4 hours and that will give us time on each end to set up and clean up,

Thanks for the PM

TXLovers, just received your PM about the party on the 6th. I am from Houston but will definately make the drive up I-45 to attend the fun. See ya there --

That is great. We have had at least twenty people say they would attend. This sounds like it will blow over well.

I was talking to one of my helpers and we were discussing Themes. What do you guys think? Should we have a theme?

The only one I had in mind was if we had Trash-can punch we could have a White trash party.......tell me what you think. This is here for me to bounce ideas off of you guys and gals.

Ok. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am now accepting donations to the September picnic. Please note, if you want to send one you will have to ask for the address in a PM. I am not going to publically announce the address. Too many anthrax scares!

But I will give you the addy if you ask.

I will be sending an invitation out probably Wed of next week.

ROFL Allison. That is Dallas in a nut shell! I currently live in Austin, However, I grew up in Dallas. I always love going back to visit, but often I tend to run the hell out of there to go home! Ya'll behave there up North! ;)

Allison

That brings back such memories. I was raised there. Moved to Austin as soon as it was legally possible. LOL

overseas

More than likely I will deploy before then. If not, I have a drill that weekend and can come afterwards. Send me that pm for donation anyway. Hugs

Oh Vinny

That would suck if you had to go overseas........you know why;)

September Get Together

Found the post and you can count me in. Live in San Antonio, but am in Dallas for business quite often. This sounds like fun and quite adventourous. I would be glad to help out! Counting the days1

I currently work in Austin but spend nearly every weekend in Garland. I'd be up to hang out and have a picnic.

Count me in :)

Close enough

I'm living in Waco right now. Depending on the timing, I might be able to make it.

Invites have been sent out. IF you did not receive one please make sure to pm me. I may have missed some but I don't think I did.

HOpe this all works out well.......
