Credit where it's due, this is an excellent explanation. They should get you on the pundit panel next to Hazel, Balding and the gangthe time is taken on rider three... so... some poor sod will do a MASSIVE turn on the front (swapping lead riders costs fractions of a second, so it's best to try and ride as long as poss without blowing up)... then that person will pull up. it does mean that if anything goes wrong, the team are screwed, but that will all be part of their plan. Some of the teams did have issues with dropping the 3rd rider.
If you watch the German women, the 4th rider at the start was the one who then did the huge turn at the front when she got there... she is also bigger than the others, so they good a great slipstream. alas, for them, it made no difference.
You wait until the Madison... two riders handslinging each other into the melee. THE BEST track race.
I once spent five days and every session at the Track World Championships, so i quite like it!
And interesting, I'm not sure I saw all of that myself. My fear/worry is that you may be more right than wrong; maybe in some cases it's good that this rolls around only every four years, I'm sure the novelty of a novelty celebrity will (surely) have worn off by Los AngelesYea, I didn't see the interview live, but have managed to catch up on with her over-sharing and emotional interview (bless her heart).
The Olympic BBC journos appear to feast on anything emotional they can wring out of sports-people at their most vulnerable moments, and it's a despicable practice. It's like they're all chasing journalistic awards - if they want those, they should fuck off to the Ukraine front line, not molest teens in tears.
As for her relationship with her Dad... I froze when I heard her mention God as needing praise. So she had suicidal thoughts as a young teen, has turned to religion for help and presents as a kid truly in crisis. Somehow I don't see her Franglais Dad being especially supportive, but is instead grabbing screentime whenever he can. She needs help.
Or I might be completely wrong.
