About to head to a Wikipedia deep dive apparently...It's one of my favorites! Theda Bara is a goddess, for instance. Valentino was bisexual at the very least, a dangerous and sexy libertine. I wish more silent films were available. A lot of them were destroyed in fires or deliberately.
But no, I'm not really a villain. Just more of a fact spouting person who came in to infodump, apparently. How are you doing?
Tsk tsk. UnluckyDamn it.

The scandals are terrific (makes today’s film stars seem tame!). I love this little tidbit (from IMDb) about one of my favourite actresses:There was a brilliant series (in the UK anyway) on the silent film era. One thing i remember, the life of the stunt men was very short!
Oh, the scandals too!
They don't make chat up lines like that any more! The scandals are terrific (makes today’s film stars seem tame!). I love this little tidbit (from IMDb) about one of my favourite actresses:
“Allegedly, during the opening night party for their Broadway run of 'The Cocoanuts', Groucho informed Chico that Tallulah Bankhead had just walked into the room and wanted to meet him. Chico strode up to Bankhead and introduced himself with, "Miss Bankhead, I would like to fuck you". Bankhead laughed and replied "So you shall darling, so you shall". The story has since become a part of show business lore.“

Shame… it saves a lot of time! They don't make chat up lines like that any more!
Is that why it never worked for me?They don't make chat up lines like that any more!
Harpo Speaks is a great autobiography and worth a read even if you know nothing about the Marx Brothers. It's a fascinating look at late 19th Century New York and how a family of immigrants became showbusiness royalty with some amazing twists on the way.The scandals are terrific (makes today’s film stars seem tame!). You can tell I know nothing about this subject because I was thinking Karl Marx wasn't American.Harpo Speaks is a great autobiography and worth a read even if you know nothing about the Marx Brothers. Somehow think Karl and the Marx brothers wouldn’t have hit it off… but you never know…..You can tell I know nothing about this subject because I was thinking Karl Marx wasn't American.
Maybe I need more coffee![]()
Yup, that's her.Wasn't it their sister Onya who invented the starting pistol?
On your Marx get set …….Wasn't it their sister Onya who invented the starting pistol?
Zeppo Marx was the real inventor of the family. He invented a watch that could monitor the pulse rate in cardiac patients (the original Fitbit if you will) and his company invented a clamping device that was used in the bombers that dropped the first atom bomb on Hiroshima.
Bah dum tish!Who needs Wikipedia when we’ve got this thread?! Top Marx !
