Anyone from the UK?

Lucky you! They are so expensive to buy. Does the farmer know??
The hedges are pretty overgrown, about 5m deep and haven't been cut in years. So... since no one else is interested, I do a bit of foraging! Brambles festoon every neglected corner of the UK.
Oh - tip for picking without pain is to use fingerless gloves ( I use sailing gloves ) but I've got scratches up my legs despite thick trousers. Theft is tough work.

does the freezing work? I've wondered about that and never tried as I expect that on defrosting I would be left with black puddles.
It works fine - in fact I've just put them into a tub as individual berries. When you make a pie there's always plenty juice but they keep their shape as much as fresh ones.

Ana - I assume this isn't a language thing?
Here's a blackberry, that grows in hedges. Sometimes also called a bramble

and here's a black currant... sometimes called Ribena ;)

I love both. They are called Brombeeren and Schwarze Johannesbeeren respectively.

Black currants remind me of my grandmother who had them in her back garden. Her jam was legendary.
