Anyone from the UK?

I am hooked on British canal boat vlogs and have been for quite some time. Sailing is too much like work…
I just want to sell up here, pick up a 25’ canal boat there, pay my CRT fees and huddle around my coal stove in the bowels of the beast and hurl epithets at the passersby on the tow path on one side of the boat, and pay off the swan mafia on the other side… 😂
There is something about simplifying life that really appeals.

Some years back I had a six month “hillbilly Thoreau” experience, living in a derelict camper on a small farm I owned, and it was pretty damned satisfying tbh.
I have given serious thought to the canal boat thing, but the numbers would have to work financially. Seems like a lot of narrowboaters have done what I describe, sell all their landholdings, leave their job, buy a boat… then struggle to get by. Plus, I don’t think any country in their right mind is going to long term visa a 60 yo reprobate such as myself… and I doubt my daughter would come visit me 🙃
I’d be the one flying back and forth… it is a very nice dream though.
Apologies for hijacking this site, albeit temporarily…

I love travelling as it gives the sane feeling. Backpacking with a few friends and seeing where you end up.

Crack on mate, mainly non judgemental thread. The only thing we judge is deft...
