I'm still intrigued by the 'taste in clothes' metaphor.
It's my brain.

i guess it comes from the "liking" definition of taste... must admit, i hadn't thought of that phrase, but now it makes little real sense. Then again, nor does most languages - the Danes will say "it's blowing half a pelican" for a windy day.

Taste can also mean "discernment" or perception. One can have "good taste" in many things. Clothing, people, vacation spots.
