I did it once by mistake and got my knuckles rapped. I've never quite understood why there's a rule against it. Are you able to educate me?

With all of the threads out there being used, why go back to one that's ten years old, where most people have probably departed Lit since?

I'm not privy to what the site owners think or the whys/wherefores, I just try to keep things flowing as they've put forth.
