Yes. Tilt means the sunlight has to warm a larger area (it's lower down) in winter. The irradiation per square yard is 7× as great in July as in January. Conversely, the difference caused by being closer in our orbit is an extra 1/30th.

That's what I was saying... but you can't expect someone who thinks that what holds for England must obviously apply everywhere to understand.

But you can't discount the GB (Ginger bird) disruption factor. That can cause havoc and much squishiness.
