Anyone from the UK?

Today was the company Christmas party. It was actually quite nice, the food was good, the music was okay, and I had a few nice conversations with nice colleagues. And one or two with not-so-nice ones.
But honestly, between us? The ride home on my bicycle, down to the ferry, across the river at night, on the other side through the already sleeping village, along the country road through the autumn mist, then through the forest, over the little bridge across the stream, then on across the fields...
That was really lovely.

Maybe I'm just weird.

You don't live in Slough then.

No, I don't live there. I'm not even sure if I've ever been there. I think I drove through Berkshire when I travelled from London to Wales via Bristol.
It was interesting, to say the least, driving through rush hour traffic on the left for the first time. And that also makes it clear that I come from a country where they drive on the right and therefore correct side. Which isn't really news, as I insist on pointing out at every opportunity, whether appropriate or not, that I'm only a guest here.

You can drive on the right here, but only once.

I was more of a morning biker, before the world was awake. There is something so fun about biking when it feels like you're the only one awake (ok it was a unicycle, but the feeling is the same).

Also a visitor here, but back in the 90s I visited Slough on business. The cool thing was staying in the Bird in Hand which was nice, but it also had a Morgan club meet in the parking lot. I'd never heard of them before that.
A bit of a waiting list for a Morgan.
I have a friend who does TVR meetups at a local hotel.

Do you ever do it so early you also get that feeling? Mostly I remember it from weekends when it takes the world longer to wake up.
When I leave home in winter, it's pitch dark. The only thing I hear is the sound of my tyres rolling.
At some point, spring slowly arrives. Then I hear nightingales and blackbirds. As spring progresses, the sky slowly turns pink. Eventually, I'm driving at sunrise.
It's wonderful.
And then the bloody time change comes and the whole thing starts all over again. Except that by then it's too late for nightingales.
