Oh, but what lies behind the smiling beckoning mask of the New Year?
I hope, peace and goodwill to everyone.

I know it’s probably going to be another awful year, but I have to have hope for a better future for us, our kids, and grandchildren.

Otherwise I wouldn’t get up in the morning.

Just have to have hope, fight the awful parts of the system where I can, and use my writing to escape the rest.

All I can do.

I suspect you are correct, changing a number won’t change human nature which will remain on a continuum of being from the divine to the devilish,

Think both our countries are experts in reasons for train delays. 😂
Currently yes.
In Germany it's not at bad as it is in Britain. Two weeks ago, our Federal Network Agency imposed a hefty fine on our railway company because they announced their delays, i.e. the planned construction sites, too late. That's Germany. You're not fined for delays, you're fined for announcing it too late.
I once wanted to travel to Wales by train. Just for the fun of it. Eight hours to reach London, but nearly two days all in all.
My boss overruled my decision and made me take a flight. He had no sense for adventure.
😄

Maybe he was just worried you’d become a latter day Ancient Mariner, condemned to wander the rails for ever.
