Are you obsolete?

Lit, litty, lit af and some other term of uber coolness which now escapes my old brain, thats what i have been called by my daughters friends. Not my daughter of course. To her i am just embarassing. :)

yes to all of the above. this august will be the 50th anniversary of woodstock. just kill me now. i don't want to live in a world where mick jagger and bob dylan are in their 70's.

^^ Not to mention all of CSN&Y who are somehow still alive.

It's funny, I can adapt to tech pretty easily, haven't written a paper check in at least a decade, keep up to date on most things and have no problem with the world moving forward yet my personal opinions on things don't tend to change at all.

It's like "Get off my lawn! I'm busy hacking into personal accounts while using Google wallet to pay for my Prime membership and buy some weed off a deep web marketplace. Stupid kids. Now I need to go watch my stories and get to bed before 6."

Are your opinions decades out of date? Do younger relatives sigh whenever you start speaking? Do you resent people who speak of progress and change? Do paleontologists show you flattering amounts of attention?

Just asking.

Is my webcam on? I thought I had the damn thing covered with tape.

Probably.

No.

Only if they are authoritarian about said "progress and change".

No.

Og, King of Bashan was obsolete (and dead) thousands of years ago.

I still keep posting.

My children and grandchildren ask me for advice on a whole range of topics. They consider it. Whether they act on it is up to them.

I was born aged. It took 50 years for my body to catch up to my mind and soul. I was always "odd" in that regard. Shakespeare and Descartes were my reading at 12. I slowed down with the "egghead stuff" after about 20. Now, 29 years later, I'm m going through second childhood. That is to say, that now I focus on all the things I ignored as a "kid." Heavy Metal music, comic book movies, and the things that kerp me from "getting old." But, when I wax philosophical or speak of higher thoughts, or get nostalgic, I get the same looks I did from people when I was 12. It seems, sometimes, that I will remain perpetually "out of touch" until the end.
