I don't mind nominating a story one little whit cum bubble.
What I mind is someone nominating themselves as the collective conscience of the board and chiding those who choose not to vote.
Are you that desperate for validation that you need people to say OH WOW that Fred, now theres a guy who can REALLY write porn.
This site was created so that those with a desire to do so could have their work in "print", and as a place for those with a desire to read this material to do just that.
Any work of quality will survive or die of its own merit or lack there of. I have an appreciation for literature but I am by no means qualified to judge it. I believe most people would fall in to that category. Therefor the voting degenerates in to a popularity contest that may slight some truly deserving author in favor of a friend or less deserving but more well known author.
Nahh Fred I believe in making informed decisions so i'll continue to pass. However, I can say, with a relative amount of certainty, your "poll numbers" are way way down.
As far as your chicken little prognostication ("whats next remove all the stories?") get a fucking grip, and by that I mean on something other than your dick.

You can claim altruism as much as you like Fred. When you make the sort of holier than thou statements you have made over the course of this thread you are gonna get bitten in the ass by those of us who never bestowed the title "Conscience of the Board" on you.
Further I believe I honor all the writers represented here (of which I am not one) by not voting, than voting and neglecting the most deserving of them in favor of one I have read over the majority that I have not. Ignorance is not bliss. In plain english I will not vote for what could possibly be an inferior work and slight a more deserving author.

As the Awards Moderator.. I will make a final statement, and this discussion will be over. I am sick of seeing a few members go back and forth at each other's throats over something which is, in fact, trivial... So here it goes.. no matter what I have said in the past.. here it is...
1) If you want to nominate, please do so... you only have a few days left...
2) If you do not wish to nominate, then so be it.. I'm sure you have a very good reason and I respect that...
3) Fred - Some good has come out of this thread, the Awards Nominations are thriving.. so thanks for that...

HSWriter, I hear you, and understand, and will comply. This will be my last message on nominations.
yes, the decision to post on this topic was mine alone, and I understood I would take the heat for it. I accept that result and realize that I have irritated some members. But I believe several prominent Literotica writers have been pleased to see this thread, and could not, and would start this discussion. I honestly do not believe that it was a detractor to nominating.
several aggressive members have labeled me the conscience of the forum, followed by insults and profanity. One member stated that "we" all know about voting so stop bothering us, when in fact, several entries before a member complained that they we wrongly assumed everyone understood and knew about nominating. Possibly all the anger stems from the fact that I did hit on a truism, that although this is an open forum, and free to post in, this site's main focus and heartland is erotic literature as stated by the most astute Gingersnap (a sharp and intelligent woman). A little realization seeped into to the angry ones thoughts, that yes, maybe I could repay Laurel and Litertoica for all my use of the site by participating in the nomination process and pick a story. Keeping in mind that without the story side of the site I'm sure that the forums would not survive the duration. And sure, writers would always submit without the nomination, but again, just read how your top writers feed off this process, and just think how nominating and selecting the best story urges them on to produce their best works. This could make the difference between a super hot web site, and a mediocre spot to drop your so-so work. There are many sex story sites: the difference with this one is; the allowed interaction with writers; the rather good rating of stories (a few glitches as of late); the interaction of readers to the stories; and more. I believe the nominations support all this. It's ok, anger is only fear being expressed; but fear of what?

yes, initially I did not like the idea of nominating stories and ignoring that fact there was already ¾ year of voting -- that I still believe is the best way of selecting the top works for the year. I don't. Fact is - since discovering the board - and that would be the General Board here - I have not submitted a story.
But that's just me. The General Board is so easy - I get my creative kicks here and it's not as laborious as writing a story.
The General Borad (so far) provides me with all I need. But again - that's just me.
So, you see - with this attitude - I could care less about who wtites what - at what ever level of quality. Who votes. How one votes. Who wins - or anything.
