Yeah...We have Macayo's...it opened a few years back. It is okay.

Garcia's.........well....let not talk about it. LOL....Got 6 people meals and drinks comp-ed tonight.......Bad bad bad. Not sure if we will go back. I know they are new and just opening and all...but errrr......who knows.

I prefer Manuel's. Always get great service and the food is always well prepared. Sometimes when we go in the afternoon we get this ditxy brunette that always messes up the little things, (Pepsi instead of Dr. Pepper or Floyur tortilla's instead of corn). But she's fun to watch as she messes up. It's cute.

Mexican food

I am very fond of a Mexican seafood restaurant in Guadalupe. The name escapes me (duh!) right now, but it's in the big building on the SW corner of Guadalupe and Calle de Yaqui. Park on the southside of the building. The restaurant is in the NW corner. Stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon with a cream sauce is great, but so is the octopus, red snapper, everything.

As far as Garcia's.. the ones I have been to are good food, they always have a service problem.. seeing as there is one near me (about a half-block away), I usually get take out now.. no problems and I eat at home.. I have yet to eat at any of their restaruants (in 30 years), and not have problems with the waiters or waitresses.

As to a Lit Getogether.. not one has emaild me or PM'ed me with any thoughts of locations... so I havent made a decision.. and I have no idea if you all want one in Feb.

let me know, I can set it up..... or if you dont want me to, I am sure that someone else can.. not a biggy..

L and I are still game. We will be in Vegas the weekend of the 2/14-2/18....so Anytime after that works for us.

Seeings we are not from the Valley.......We really cant offer suggestions. So...Just let us know.

Authentic Fare

Some people are hesitant, if not downright scared, to go to Guadalupe. Go figure.

So, for those folks, I suggest a wonderful reataurant on South 19th Avenue, just south of Broadway on the west side: CANCUN!!
The restaurant in front is fairly small, but the club in back is big and offers live music. It is nothing like Garcia's or any of the others mentioned so far.

HARK!! Do not go here if you are nervous about being the only Anglo surrounded by "foreigners"!! Most of the wait staff speaks no English, and the surroundings are very plain,

BUT, the FOOD is Muy Bueno! The menu features both traditional Sonoran dishes and lots of "fishy" fare.

Highly recommended.

There's plenty of good Mexican food here in AZ - of course I've really only found it in smaller rural towns or in really small off the beaten track family ran and owned types of places here (like in Guadalupe!)

There is a Mexican place around 8th St and Camelback I went to once that would be around a 30 minute drive from anywhere in the valley. Oh, and as an enticement, there's a Castle Boutique a few blocks west of it!

Does Feb 21st sound good to everyone - or Feb 28th? (I personally pick the 21st but that's just because then you would all have to bring me birthday presents )

I feel like I'm in warped echo land. A lot of this is basically just what I said above, and yet, it is twisted around enough that it isn't... and yet it is.... but it isn't..... but it is....I'm SO CONFUSED!!!!



The 16th is not a good date for me - I don't have it off. So again a Saturday - like the 21st or 28th - is better.

I was talking about a Chevy's on 8th st and Camelback, but the Macayo's on Central is fine with me too (If it's the Macayo's on Central just south of Camelback then is the same Macayo's the a local group has had munches at and they have had good success with service, etc.)

Again, let's here some what some others think!

21st and 28th still good for us....28th being better. We just need to have time to request off...or early shifts...ETC.

I'm pleased that several of you enjoy February birthdays with moi! Mine's the 28th.

I don't know whether I'll be able to attend the get together on the 21st, and I definitely will not on the 28th. I got a chance to make some extra $$ and said yes.
