lavender shortbread, caramelized banana pancake, sponge cake with rose sugar, you name it! I also like to make oven cured tomatoes.. the house smells so lovely

I don't think anybody actively knows when they are being pretentious, unless someone tells them. Likewise, I don't like to think I am, or at least it's not in my nature to think I'm better than someone else. I fully admit i think I try harder than anybody else, and most people who know me will agree; i'm the most trying person they know.
Hrm... I do tend to look at myself as better than someone who is stupid. Is that pretentiousness or ego?

I know I think too much.. It doesn't bother me. and I don't think that being pretentious has anything to do with thinking that you're better than.. I think it has more to do with the attempts made to make others think so.

I like funny ones, there's that whole series where they are trying to sell Direct TV and they have these long tenuous things like when you have cable then --long list---...and then your house blows up...don't have your house blow up, get Direct TV.

It changes all the time. That being said, I tend to read anything Anita Diamant writes, I secretly love Ta-Nehisi Coates, and I have several Jane Austen books on my phone. If all else fails, I'll curl up with a little Rumi and a hot bath.

ha! Not being dead!
I think I will have my kids off being adults. I'll have more time to do the things I enjoy and less worry about work etc.
