Assassin, Father, Lover...

Danny nodded and smiled and thought to himself. He was pretty close already in his mind though. He had feelings for this woman. When he first met her she was one of the many who made up the background of his life. Just a teacher and while Kayla thought the world of her he never conceived about opening up to her about anything in his life. If she really cared when she asked and got the truth she'd listen and be there for him.

After she checked the temperature of the chicken and took off her oven mitts he walked over and gave her a hug and caressed her back. He said soft with his hot breath on her ear, "being naked with someone isn't taking off your clothes. It's about knowing everything about each other open and exposed. I think we'll get there."

With that he went about helping her around the kitchen talking as he helped set the table and talked about Kayla's schooling. He liked how she smiled and had a wonderful natural beauty about her person. When Kayla did come he helped get her to wash up and made sure Ash didn't track up the floor. Him and Kayla ended up on the couch and unlike other kids she sat down and read instead of turning on the TV.

Emily paused as Danny hugged her tightly and caressed his hands over her back. She smile as he whispered against her ear, telling her that exposing themselves to one another would be their goal. Nodding, she shivered as he let her go to get the table set. They talked about Kayla and she suggested that Kayla either be home schooled or skipped forward a few grades. She was too smart to be wallowing in remedial classes.

When Kayla came in to get washed up, she smiled as she watch the both of them settle on the couch to read some of the books that she had picked up at the library. It was a nice little scene, one that she hoped to one day see with her own children. She wondered if Danny wanted more kids. It was something they would have to talk about as their relationship progressed.

"Dinner's ready!" She called as she set out the food on the table and poured the adults a glass of red wine.

Not many parents got to talk to their child's teacher about inmate things, but for Danny the most important thing was that Kayla was happy. He'd traveled around the world practicing his murdering craft leaving Kayla with friends but otherwise alone on some farm or isolated home. She'd been to the hellish school on the secret compound, she'd learned from the nuns, but otherwise she didn't have any formal schooling. He was a delight and had made friend along the way though. Even during a brief stay in the Middle East she managed to make friends with Bedouin children.

He told Emily that was why he wanted to have Kayla remain in school and keep doing activities like the girl scouts. He left out all the gory details, but let Emily know he was making up for lost time with her and wanted Kayla to have a full social life. They were lucky though they found such an inspiring teacher. Perhaps testing for next year so she could advance a little faster.

As they chatted Kayla sat on the couch and read to Ash. He explained to Emily how she'd picked up the habit from him during story time, and if any of the animals came by to listen they clearly liked the story according to her. When it was dinner time though Kayla and Ash came over running. The dog set down Kayla's chair as she sat down and quickly prayed and smiled at her father then Emily.

Danny sat down and smiled and said, "you put in a good word with me honey."

"Yes Daddy, but sister Victoria said you were a good man and warrior not some...," she paused and trailed off realizing Emily wasn't part of the family. Not yet in her mind anyway.

Danny nodded and they began passing the food around like any family might when they sat down to dinner. Kayla asked about the farm and the animals, and once again told Emily she need to come see her room. Though she liked her teacher's house very much especially the swings.

"Daddy and I have a gym with lot's of climbing robes and stuff though. It's fun when we workout together and do martial arts. Daddy taught me how to break boards and stuff."

"That impressive." Emily said with a smile as Kayla told her about what she and her father did in their spare time. "I don't think I could punch through a board if I wanted to. It's a good skill to have. All young women should know how to defend themselves."

She passed the chicken to Danny and gave him a smile, letting him know that she was having a good time so far that evening. It was nice to have dinner with people that cared about her and that she cared about. Her dad was gone far too often on the boat and she saw him a few times a month, but it wasn't near enough for her liking.

"Maybe we can make plans to have a day at your house." Emily offered. "You can show me all the things you want to that way."

He smiled at Emily and nodded. "So we won't have any issues when Kayla get's back to school. I won't be troubled if she has to defend herself. I've had to deal with bullies for my whole life and they keep taking until you make them stop."

That was how they met though so for Danny it was a good thing, but he wanted Kayla to continue school without a problem. He then said "well we can put the unpleasantness aside though for now. We would like for you to spend a day with us at the farm. Especially after you have had us to your home. Also well maybe you can come over when Kayla goes on the girl scout trip. They told me they had enough parents already."

Kayla nodded happily and turned to Emily, "they're going to take us to the dog rescue and help the volunteers we get to stay at the farm and everything. Daddy says we have enough doggies so I can't bring home any puppies though."

Danny smiled looking over at Emily. He didn't want to come on to strong, but he thought he was clearly implying he wanted some alone time with her though. Kayla was wonderful, but she was still a child. So they continued with the meal and talked about school, the town, and their respective homes. She really was lovely though he thought, and for a moment he envisioned her without the apron or anything else.

"I'm sure that you'll have a good time with all of the animals." Emily said with a smile towards Kayla. "You seem like the kind of girl that would bring home every animal that you came across if you possibly could."

"We can make some plans and see just how things work out." Emily said as she glanced towards Danny. "A nice day together might be good for the both of us."

Kayla shook her head no but smiled and said, "no daddy get's all our animals but I love them. The mean people didn't let him keep pets growing up, so now he always takes good care of animals. In Australia we had sheep, chickens, and horses. And lot's of dogs."

Danny laughed and smiled looking at Kayla. "The farmer had a lot of animals honey we just took care of them."

He looked back over at Emily and said, "I didn't get to have a lot of fun growing up, so maybe I spoil Kayla a little bit, but well she's still a good girl. I love watching children grow up with animals."

After dinner he and is daughter helped Emily clean up the table and then they had desert. While Kayla was taking Ash out in the yard Danny got close to Emily and leaned in and whispered in her ear softly, "I can see why my daughter likes you so much."

With that he gently kissed her on the lips. Soft yet firm not pushing her in anyway. He broke the kiss and caressed her beautiful face lovingly. Looking into her eyes he smiles and hugged her looking out watching Kayla. He hoped she didn't feel any of the weapons he had on his body.

Emily was surprised when Danny leaned in and whispered against her ear. She smiled softly towards him as he leaned in and gently kissed her. It felt very right to be there with him in that moment, kissing him as Kayla played outside with her dog. She could see herself falling for this man and falling hard.

When the kiss ended, she found herself looking into his eyes, his hand caressing her cheek before he pulled her in for a hug. She willingly wrapped her arms around his chest, hugging him tightly as she let her cheek press against his chest.

"And I can see why she adores you." Emily murmured softly, letting herself relax in Danny's arms. "I think, in time, we can have something beautiful together."

Danny held her and caressed her back as he looked out a his daughter play. He loved this but part of his life never meant putting his guard down, but still he'd savor this moment. Every second of it with this woman who he felt a charge from and saw the beauty she had inside. He leaned in and whispered again into her ear.

"I think our next date we will have to upset little Kayla and be alone. We'll make it up to her, but I think we need some time together. I want you now. Hell I could take you on your kitchen table but I want this to be the start of something not just fun. I didn't think I'd have these feelings again for another person."

Just then Kayla came bounding in with the backdoor slamming against the wall. Danny squeezed Emily one last time and then turned and begin picking yo the table. Kayla stopped to check Ash's paws to make sure he wasn't tracking anything into the house and then walked in all smiles.

"I guess we have to go now. MMMM...The other dogs will be lonely."

"Maybe we could go out of town. A nice restaurant and a nicer hotel." Emily said with a grin up towards Danny as he mentioned wanting to fuck her right there on her dining room table. "I've got a little black dress that might drive you crazy."

It was nice to have someone there to talk to like an adult. She adored children, but Danny was easy to talk to and even easier to flirt with. How did she get so lucky as to find him, she asked herself as Kayla came back into the house with her dog, checking his paws as Danny announced that it was time to go.

"I suppose so. I need to do the dishes and then get to bed. I'm going hiking in the morning." Emily mentioned as Kayla looked towards her dad with an expectant glance.

Danny reached down and caressed Kayla's hair and smiled and looked back at Emily. He knew he might be upsetting both women in his life when he said, "well I hop you enjoy the time in the woods. Kayla and I have training tomorrow and we need to take care of things around the house. Thanks for the lovely evening though. We'll do it again soon...All of us I promise.

Kayla was disappointed but she came over and hugged Emily before taking Ash out to the car. Her faithful dog followed her closely comforting her as she headed out.

Danny sighed and walked over to Emily and kissed her softly, but firmly rubbing his muscular body against her's as he held her tight for a moment. "I'd love to see you in the that black dress and less. For now though I need to protect Kalya. You'll know more about us in time. Be assured though I have feelings from you and I don't want to see you hurt. I'm going to make Kayla strong, but I want you around too. "

With that he walked out the door. He didn't have a lot of experience, but he was sure things started good. He wasn't sure about the end to the evening.

"Danny, Kayla should always come first." Emily insisted, hugging him tightly as he nearly apologized for spending time with his daughter. "We can always build things when you have the time. She will always be most important. Never forget that."

She walked with him to the door, waving at the both of them as Danny pulled out of the drive and Kayla waved at her enthusiastically.

Danny smiled as he drove down the road in his robust truck with Kayla next to him and Ash sleeping peacefully in the backseat after a short while. His daughter had been looking out the window when she suddenly broke the silence and said, "she's really pretty and she'd make a great stepmother."

Danny smiled holding back a laugh and kept looking down the road and replied, "well Emily is very nice and pretty, but this was only a second date. You don't ask someone to marry you even if your daughter says she's a peach."

"Yeah but we'd be happy. Well happier I mean daddy. You work and take care of me, and train and well..."

"Pumpkin you think I'm lonely?"

"No but mommy would want you to be happy right?"

"Kayla this is more complicated."

"Mommy's watching you from heaven and she doesn't want you to be alone. She won't be mad at Emily."

"Why don't you relax and get some sleep honey. We have a big day tomorrow."

Kayla eventually drifted off to sleep and before carrying her into the house Danny took out his camera and took a picture of her sleeping in the car. She looked so peaceful and happy. He sent the picture to Emily and wished her a goodnight. He took his little girl in a smiled and for once looked forward to the next day rather then just wonder about the dangers it might bring.

Danny was on Emily's mind the next day as she hiked up the familiar trail. She didn't want to come on too strong, but she knew that he was a nice man. She thought about being brutally honest with him and just telling him that she wanted him, but she didn't know if he would appreciate that at all. Instead, she sent him a simple text message when she was finished with the hike, relaxing in her backyard as some burgers cooked on her grill.

'Let's go out of town this weekend. A nice dinner, a hotel on the lake. See where things go.' She typed, her heart racing as she pressed send.

With the odd free day Danny took advantage of it to take care of Kayla and the house as well as training. They started off early with stretching and martial arts and a big pancake breakfast before going outside to begin knocking out things on the to do list. Kayla followed him along learning and telling him what she remembered while taking time out to play with every dog. She didn't stop chatting about Emily though and with a little surprise she became blunt with him.

"You know we could have spent the day with Emily."

"Yes we could but this is what we planned to do today, and your training is important."

"I know I like the bow and the other weapons daddy, but if you don't call and spend time with Emily she won't marry you."

"Excuse me Kayla."

"Well yeah don't you date people and then you get married if you really love each other. I know you didn't marry mommy, but you wanted to so why wait."

Danny almost laughed. It was kind of sad, but true. He loved Diana, and didn't have optioned when it came to love. Now he had a chance for a normal relationship and his little girl was the one doing the pushing. He smiled and replied back, "I will see about giving her a call later, but only if we have a good full day."

"Yes daddy, " was her smiling reply but she kept asking all day when he would be calling. It was a thrill to get her text and it made him smile. He simply replied back that all he needed to do was find a babysitter and he'd be there. He couldn't wait to see her.

Emily smiled when she got Danny's text, telling her that he would find a babysitter and they could go. She wrote him back a short message, telling him to let her know when he found a sitter. She would make a reservation at a hotel. Then she got to planning. She knew that he wanted to see her in that black dress again. She most definite;y would pack that. Then, maybe they would hike. She would need her hiking clothes and shoes. She had no idea what they were going to get up to!

When they got to lunch time Danny took a break to begin calling around. His first choice called back, and Diana was available though she said she had to work one night, but would be a call away. Not the best situation, but she could pickup Kayla from school and she was a friend. She wouldn't go around looking through the house, and that was invaluable considering some of the things Danny kept around the place. He put her on with Kayla who happily chatted with her in Portuguese. With that he let them talk and make up the guest room for Diana. While he would be thrilled to return to find a fridge filled with Portuguese food and a happy daughter he knew he'd enjoy the weekend.

Once the room was ready with plenty of everything he walked into his bedroom and looked at the dresser and mirror. He'd put plenty of photos there of Kayla, but there was the lovely sketch of his late wife. She posed for him in the nude so shy about her beautiful body. He smiled and leaned over and began to talk like she was just on the other side of the glass.

"You'll always be with me and there isn't a day goes by that I don't think of you. I'd only spend time with this woman if I thought she'd love our daughter. I...I always thought I'd be alone until you showed me love. When they took you from me I thought it was over. Now well I feel something for this person. I hope am doing the right thing."

Kayla watched silently from the hallway. She knew how to sneak very well thanks to her father. She knew he talked to her mother when it was important. So he had to be serious about Emily. He really cared for her and while it was a lot for her to understand she still walked in and hugged her dad around the waist. He reached down and held her close.

Emily called and booked a private cabin on a lake for herself and Danny. It had two bedrooms, just in case they decided that they were better as friends. She was hopeful that he had the same strong feelings that she was developing for him. And Kayla was most definitely a welcome addition. The cabin had lakefront views and trails surroundings it for hiking. She had plans to get Danny out on those trails, exploring their surroundings together.

She text Danny the details, hoping that she didn't seem too forward. She also told him that she would bring things for them to cook at the cabin, leaving them with nothing but time to spend with one another.

Danny was a little emotional after Kayla found him talking, but they went about their day with only a little talking, but good feelings. When he received the text he let her know they could head out right after school and Kayla would be well taken care of while they were gone for a few days. When she said she got a private cabin he smiled. He never liked hotels so having private spot to share sounded perfected. He wrote back asking about anything he need though his bags were already packed for ever incident. Perhaps he could travel for once without having to kill someone.

'Nothing special. Some clothes to hike in. Something nice for dinner.' Emily text back to him, feeling giddy at the thought of going away with him.

She made plans for their meals, making a list of food that she would buy before they left. She wanted to impress him and get to know Danny without anyone else around. It would be nice to make certain that she really did have feelings for this man. Kayla was a nice bonus, and she did care for the little girl, but she needed to make these decisions with a level head.

For Danny the week couldn't pass quickly enough and for Emily Kayla was there every day smiling happily. Her father of course hadn't told her anything about the date weekend, but she was a smart girl and perceived something was up. She of course knew from her father not to gossip. She did let her thoughts go to having Emily as a step-mother. She was so smart and nice she and her father had to make it work.

For his part Danny got ready and while he didn't like leaving Kayla he knew she'd be in trusted hand and he deserved to have some love in his life besides his daughter. Still though there were dark forces out there looking for him. He was lose end that needed to be tied. Never mind him leaving was looked on as personnel betrayal and to others a message loss in their investment. He was just a living weapon to them, but he was more then that and he knew it.

His love always said he was a good man born of science, but much more then a number. He owed it to her to survive, and thrive in life. Part of that was showing Emily cared and wanted to be with her in a special way. It wasn't easy after seeing the worst in people, but it reminded you how you had to keep looking for the best in people.

Emily could barely contain her excitement as the day finally arrived. She got through the day at school as easily as she could, trying not to seem giddy to her students. Kayla seemed to know and took great joy in seeing her so happy. When the bell finally rang to dismiss the kids, she hugged Kayla extra tight, telling her to enjoy her weekend.

Emily drove home, quickly changing into more comfortable clothing. A nice pair of jeans and a button down blouse were all she needed as she finished packing her little suitcase and the rest of the food that she had purchased for the trip. She simply wanted everything to be perfect for the both of them, even if they decided that they were better off as friends.

When Danny pulled into her drive, she opened the front door and waved at him with a smile before she started to gather her things. "I think I over packed a little bit." Emily said with a chuckle as she took everything out to his car piece by piece.

Danny had been ready for days and had studied the route several times to and from the resort. It had all kinds of lovely cabins, and it was clear Emily wanted them to have some alone time. He hadn't done this in a long time, but he knew it would come back to him easily. It was better with a beautiful loving partner. Emily was special to him and now he got to show her how much.

With Kayla in good hands and the security system around the farm up and running he headed over to Emily house. He took the items he needed and had hidden cache of weapons. He hoped he wouldn't need any of them, but it was better to be prepared then left wanting. He knew many ways to kill men without pistols or knives, but he had to think about protecting this new woman in his life from harm. He'd tell her the truth one day if this went well.

He arrived at her house and she was all smiles. He came over to help her with the bags, but first he indulged himself with and kiss. Softly yet firmly he kissed her on the lips and gently hugged her. He stepped back and caressed her face and looked in her eyes and said," we're going to have wonderful time really getting to know each other."

With that he helped her load up his vehicle and they were on their way down the road. He kept the GPS handy but he knew the route by memory now though. He had heightened awareness going, but for once he found himself pleasantly distracted by the woman next to him. Randomly he just asked, "Emily do you know how beautiful you are?"

The kiss that he gave her was unexpected but very welcome. Emily was smiling as Danny kissed her with a softness as he hugged her gently. She most definitely could get use to being treated like that, she thought to herself. After everything was packed away and they were on the way to their destination, Emily relaxed. A soft chuckle left her lips as Danny casually mentioned that he thought that she was beautiful.

"I never really thought about it, but I certainly don't mind hearing the words from you. I think that you're pretty handsome too." Emily said as she glanced towards Danny with a smile on her face. "I'm excited that we decided to take this trip."

Danny nodded as he headed out of town. "Well thank you for saying that, and it is a nice break. Haven't done this type of thing in a long time. I mean well I've had a certain little girl with me every where if it wasn't work. It's been lovely, but even she says I need a girlfriend. She's thrilled that it might be her favorite teacher."

The drove for several hours to the resort area which had the cabins. Danny could drive for days with little or no stopping, but he made sure to ask if Emily was comfortable or needed a break. At one point they stopped at scenic out look. Alaska was a place where someone could get lost just admiring all the beauty. That was one of the reasons he'd settled here, and many of those he spoke too said they the same.

Emily posed for a few pictures on the stone wall on the side of the road. He smiled looking at her through the view finder. This was much more satisfying then looking at a target through the crosshairs of a high powered rifle. She was fastly becoming his favorite subject.
