Hey, how can a cop have time to post on this board? Shouldn't he be busy ramming a plunger up some guy's ass or shooting an unarmed man?

Policeman and women are human beings like anyone else, and thus subject to greed, rage, etc. There are good cops who do their jobs, and then there are corrupt cops who are merely criminals in uniform. The latter are, thankfully, the minority. However, what pisses me off is when good policemen feel the need to defend "their own" when he or she is found to have behaved badly. If an officer isn't following the law, it's the duty of those who work with him to get him off the force. You'd think that a cop would want to get rid of the jerks who tarnish the reputation of cops everywhere, but that's not often enough the case.
Re: attorneys and cops: go read my "Paradise Lost" thread. There's a case of fuck-ups and corruption on the part policemen, judges, and a D.A., and it's the lawyers who are trying to make things right. Strange, but true.

Wow!! Pretty diverse field of replies here. I like that!! However, my personal opinion is that everyone wants to go to court now days. After seeing how many obvious criminals have twisted the court system to their own advantage, everyone else wants a peice. Personally, I like cops. They have only treated me fairly and from time to time given me a real break. I think it's different for everyone depending on their personal experiences. Don't judge based on what you saw in the media. Judge what that person reveals to you. Enough said.
