ok , so there is another audio thread, which was supposed to be for links only, but as Mat. has enlightened us, is becoming a code red of gossip and chit chatter

So my question is . . . what's the point, eventually we will have to go through 20 pages to find anything, just like here . . . UNLESS, we have a librarian? A cateloguer?

Yes, all links will be going into the first three posts. McKenna did up to page 8 of this thread last night, I'm just about to pick up where she left off. It takes time...

I'm still getting over mine, and did my post while in full sneeze and cough mode.

How can we keep the ........intimacy......of the voice messaging going, without it veering off into inconsequential chit chat?

All of us who were part of the audio thread over the weekend have enjoyed it so much, and many of us would like to find someway to continue this more personal contact.

The problem is finding a way of using the new format to its best advantage, and not end up as a pure chit chat thread. We have enough of those already.

Mat has been pondering on this one, and has a few suggestions. Please feel free to shoot down in flames, agree, add other suggestions, or just plain ignore.

1. A chain story, where each poster adds a paragraph, a section, whatever, verbally. This would give so much more depth to some of the wonderful writing we have seen.

2. Audio discussions on specific themes. For such things as poetry or literature it would be such a boon, to hear other people reading out excerpts from the pieces they want to discuss. And a music thread would be wonderful, a library of favourite pieces, snippets, voices, instrumentals, accompanied by our own voices saying why that piece, or this piece, is so special. Instead of just a list of names, actual music.

3. A personal message thread. Somewhere were Literati can post special greetings, messages to other literati....or just to other people who are not necessarily part of Lit.

4. A forum where AH members who, after this weekend, have become hooked on the audio style of presenting their work, and want somewhere to try out a new piece.

Those are all I can come up with at the moment.

I'm easy p), but one thing does concern me... the time factor and my bandwidth. It will be fine, provided it was only one or two per day, for example, because I have quite honestly not done a lot else since Friday.

I'm not complaining, it's been a blast, but in the long term it could get a bit tricky.

As for your options, I think they're all great, but I must admit I do especially like the idea of option 3 - the personal messages thread. I also like what Lime suggested - the audio poetry.

I also like the idea of the chain story. Oh, I dunno, I just like hearing our voices. LOL

Not that anyone cares, but I've been very much enjoying this thread as well...

I've made audio files for certain people before... in some cases talking about life stuff, and in the case of Lit. talking about stories and story ideas. It's a different experience being able to talk about it, and let the stream of concsiousness kind of flow, than it is trying to discuss ideas in an email or PM. Anyway, I've only done it on an individual basis... as much to extend the level of communication as to raise the level of trust between the friends I speak most often to, but I never force it on anyone.

Anyway, I might add something of my own if anyone's interested, but it might be another day or two. Perhaps Lou or someone equally as kind with some spare server space would be good enough to host it?

If no one is interested I'd certainly understand. I'm only vaguely on the outskirts of the AH community--more a lurker than anything else.
