Scene breaks missing from my newly published story

I mean, listen, I know every other aspect of life pales in significance next to the importance of getting Lit to fix all its issues, but a new baby is maybe worthy of note.

They're cute.
Well...I did announce the birth in my profile, but I wasn't sure if it was worth posting in AH about that. Then again, I don't post too often in AH, I mostly just linger and see what's going on.

Congrats, Kasumi!

As to the centering bug, it's been a fact of life with the site code overhaul last November. I and a few others have been reduced to a preface/advisory for every story, reminding readers to refresh every page after Page 1. Mine reads:

"Due to a web display issue, for best readability please refresh (F5) your browser for each page after Page 1. Thank you."

When I started doing this in January, Laurel or Manu was chopping it off (my note was a little harsh then), but they have relented apparently in the understanding that it's never going to be fixed until they update to a major version of their code library. I.e., at this point I believe it's out of their hands.

What's especially frustrating for me is, aside from scene dividers, I've long used centered text to represent things like signage or formal invitations as part of the story. They're gone unless the page is refreshed.

FWIW, I migrated to publishing on another site since then, boycotting LitE, but the other site developed much bigger non-technical issues. So I'm back here with my new stories.

Oof, that sucks. I imagine there are important technical reasons why they haven't migrated to that newer version, and in all likelihood they are more complex and labor-intensive than the centering bug. The perils of using third-party software sadly include cases like this on a regular basis.

Oh yeah. But online life is so, so complicated now. You simply can't do anything any more without external dependencies like this... unless you have an army of developers at your fingertips.

You just have to look at the vast numbers of retail businesses who rely on Facebook as their online presence. Most are aware they are missing a considerable chunk of their prospective customer base (since FB blocks non-members from most content), but maintaining their own site, etc., either directly or, again, through a 3rd party, is costly in dollars and time. They have a business to run.

LitE is no exception, other than that the entire business is online. Double-edged sword.

Since I had the second half of a story in italics (even though nothing in the story was italicized), I've used RTF format to submit and haven't had any formatting glitches (unless I made them). Yes, once again, I'm preaching the virtues of RTF formatting.
