Author Trademarks

I think my heroines would throw rocks at yours. :D

I would throw rocks at my heroines. Although the one at the moment has long reddish-gold hair, copperish eyes, and the attitude of a mischievious, rebellious 13 year old in a 21 year old's body. I want to smack -her- all about the head with a broom.

My only other none dark-haired girl is the exact opposite... she has towhead-platinum blond hair, eyes that got stuck somewhere between silver and green, and she's all of 5'3. She's... interesting.

That's another thing all my female ones have in common- they have very interesting takes on how things should or will work.

Isn't it great when you're writing and like midway you suddenly decide to change things around and you wind up with something completely different than what you started out with? *gasps for breath* :D
Absolutely.

I like it when you have to gasp for breath too, and I partly the cause. :)

My heroines have womanly figures, but I don't go into specifics. I want my readers to see what they want to see, so I only describe hair, eyes and skin in limited detail.

I'm wordy. ;)

Speaking of which, I need to get my wordy nerdy ass back to worky. :D

Trademarks?

Here's some signs that you're reading a Sev story:

1. There's some kind of BDSM or fetish.
2. There's some kind of confrontation between a flawed hero or heroine and a truly despicable villain.
3. No one is ethically or morally "pure".
4. There is some Sci-fi angle or futuristic or historical context.
5. There is at least implied criticism of Victorian sexual mores and social conventions.
6. The most vocally "moral" people are often the biggest hypocrites.
7. There is some kind of sexual awakening by a previously repressed individual.
8. Subs are not necessarily weak or doormats. They just like to submit.
9. Doms are not generally abusive (with a few exceptions) or cruel. They just like to dominate.
10. Incest happens, despite there being some initial resistance to the idea.
11. Group sex happens, again not without some hesitation or fear of the supposed consequences.
12. Group marriage happens, with people who are flawed but still mature enough to handle it.
13. Politics and mythology/religion affect the background at times.
14. Mature women are every bit as attractive or interesting as younger women. Both are celebrated.
15. Anal and bi sex happen too. Anal, in particular, happens a lot.
16. Revenge occurs. It's just bound to pop up here or there.
17. People get their karmic due, one way or the other, good or bad.
18. Double standards are frowned upon as wrong. That applies to both sexes.

Not every story has these, but they are frequent occurrences in my stories.

*jaw drops* In every single Sev story?

I appear in all my stories, usually as a railway porter

Nope. Not all of them. But they are frequent occurrences and themes. Dry Valley Ch. 6 is a clear case of an exception to that. And they don't all happen in the same story.

I'm big on creating atmosphere in my stories. I can't just jump into the sex. I have to set things up first, even for stroke.

I tend to focus a lot on male pleasure. The male characters are touched and teased to their limits by the heroines until they can't take anymore and lose control.

Not all or even most, but a lot of my characters live in New England, for some reason.
I think it's because of more liberal sex and marriage laws. For instance, it was convenient when I wanted 2 women to have a lesbian wedding as part of a double wedding with the ex of one of them in my "Hank" series.

And I'm the opposite. I tend to concentrate on the woman's pleasure, teasing and playing with her until she's ready to pop.

Like in my latest story. Plug! Plug! ;)

my trademarks

I tend to focus on emotion and developing relationships. I also weave in tons of dialogue and movie homages. I like to imagine celebrities playing the characters on screen before me- which is why I write fanfic- and plug their movies within the text. Sometimes I will also plug a musician's or fellow author's work in mine. Security guards often play small but key roles in my work, as do counselors. I also occasionally use director's cameos (I was the bartender in Rendezvous, and the 911 operator who answered Rachel's call in Fear, Lust, and Vanity. :) ).

I like your style. ;)

I have sparse physical descriptions of characters. The reader already knows what they look anyway.

I'm currently writing what is only my second piece of erotica and the only recurring trademark I'm seeing is that there will be another sex in a thunderstorm scene, albeit a lot different than in the first story.

Whee! Thunderstorm sex rocks! :nana:
