Awakened-Closed

She found herself blushing a little at his jealousy comment. It had been a long time since anyone had thought of her in that way. At the same time made it known that he didn't expect her to just see him. After all it was so soon in their acquaintance to make such expectations. But he, this handsome rarity of a man, wanted to see more of her.

"I would very much enjoy spending more time with you Cole" she said softly. "I have thoroughly enjoyed.." Her sentence was ended as he pulled her behind him and commanded her to stay there as he explained the rough vagabond looking man coming toward them. There was a feeling in her gut that wrenched as it brought her back to the men that attacked her just the previous evening. She began to tremble slightly.

In a flash after a few words of exchange Cole was on him like a vicious creature of the night. There was the sound of flesh tearing and growls. It was if she was sitting in the front seat of a horror movie. She was in shock and could barely ponder what was happening before her eyes.

In a moment it was over at the man ran off. Coles words brought her back to reality, sucking up the tears and fear she went into nurse mode wrapping her arm around him and walking with him to hail a cab. Without even thinking she gave her address.

In the cab she didn't realize that she was trembling as she clung to her protector. At her door she invited him in. Not sure if that was a necessity or not. After all Vampires were suppose to be a myth, just like werewolves. "Take off your shirt" she told him after seeing him comfortable on the couch. She went into the kitchen and got a bowl of warm water and a cloth.

"Tell me what I can do to help" she said a bit frantically, unsure if wolf venom was lethal to vampires or if that was another myth. "Do you need some of my blood to heal?" she questioned finding herself more then willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure his survival.

Gina was calm and composed. Cole was actually a little surprised but very pleased, with haste she got him into a cab and out of the scene. She took him to her apartment, though he had asked her too he was again surprised she did so. She helped him inside, Gina was very polite given the situation. He had to smile at it really. Once she got his shirt off him, she went and got a cloth and warm water, Cole was sitting on her couch and couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth.

"Tell me what I can do to help? Do you need some of my blood to heal?" She was willing to give her blood to him. No one in all the years had been willing to give their blood to him. Twice people wanted to be turned but he had refused. He had never turned a single person and he was not going to start with this dear, sweet person now.

"Thank you, Gina!" He said letting her clean his shoulder and neck wound. He almost had a tear in his eyes if he was capable of crying which he doubted he was, this would have been a time to do it. "No, I would not feel right taking blood from you nor do I ever wish for you to see me feed. It's not as romantic as you might think! So I will not be requiring that of you. I can not contract any disease or lycanthropy. So we need not worry about that. I am weak though but if you can help stop any further bleeding then I should be fine to leave under my own power. I will feed myself later this night. You have a very lovely home! Also, I wish to apologize for putting you in any harm, that was not my intent for the date. I only wished to talk to you without being overheard. There was so much going on and I will not lie, I was and always am, distracted by your beauty. I should have known he was there several minutes before. Normally I can smell them a mile away. Tonight though I... Well, I almost got you hurt or killed, and for that, I am truly sorry." Cole said as Gina did her best to clean him up.

Her touch on his wounds was actually calming, and he was almost light-headed, a feeling he never got, he had been hurt in the past, badly and a few times almost mortally but he always managed to live on. This was different he wasn't alone in some ally, or basement doing makeshift repairs on himself. Now he had a savior helping him, caring for him, caring for him. This was all new and he was not sure how to feel about it. He reached up and caressed the smooth skin of her cheek. "I'm very glad that I've met you, Gina!" He said in a weakened tone. The wounds were a little more severe and he knew he would need to leave to feed soon than later.

Gina was unraveling in her mind but somehow gave off a calm disposition even after trembling so in the cab. The wounds where deep, and she knew that she couldn't take him to a hospital. She smiled at his words of flattery. "If I had taken it upon myself to go there on my own it still would have happened. I quite enjoy a walk or run in the evening, and i'm not always as careful as I should be." she said referring to the previous night that he saved her. It truly was a weak comparison. But she didn't want him to blame himself for putting her in danger. "I am very glad to have met you too Cole" she replied

Taking his hand from her face as she found herself losing her focus she placed it on the rag on one of his wounds. "Hold that for me, while i get some more". Her heart was racing as she stepped away and walked hurriedly into the kitchen to fetch more rags. It had been a long time since anyone had ever thought she was beautiful, much less a distraction.

He had made a valid point though by telling her that vampires feeding wasn't romantic. He inadvertently pointed out that this was reality. He was a vampire, and had just been attacked by a werewolf. Closing her eyes she gripped the edge of the cabinet to steady herself. In her living room sat a real vampire. But yet she felt no threat from him. She should be terrified that she had brought him into her home. Yet she wasn't. Cole had been nothing but a gentleman, and seemed genuinely concerned for her person. He had even refused to feed from her.

Taking a deep breath and finding her center she put the smile back on her face and returned to him. Gently urging him to move his hand she placed a clean cloth on it and held it firmly against him. "I think we've got it almost stopped" she said softly. Her eyes couldn't help go over his well defined chest muscles. "Thank you for saving my life once again." she moved her spare hand slowly to his cheek and looked in his eyes. Not sure what came over her she brought her lips softly to his for a chaste kiss and pulled away with a smile.

"hold this for me, while i get a bandage for it, until you get the opportunity to feed" she said softly walking into the bathroom and bringing back the first aid kit. With a couple gauze bandages she put them in place. Taking the kit back she went into her room and came back with an over-sized t'shirt she used to sleep in. "here this should fit so your torn one doesn't draw attention."

Gina took good care of him, Cole was thankful for her assistance and like that she was being so comfortable with him in her place. It was such a refreshing change to be treated like a normal person. She even gave him a shirt to wear that wouldn't make him stand out.

"Thank you." He said taking the shirt. Though weak and needed to feed he had no desire to leave. The thought ran through his mind that when he left her place the dream would be over and she would come to her senses and not want to see him again. He patted the seat next to him hoping she was comfortable enough to sit with him.

"Gina I truly hope you will be agreeable to see me again after this night! I would not blame you should you think it unwise but I've not had this pleasant of company in decades. I would love to tell you all about life as I knew it all those years ago, and what I've seen in my many years walking the earth." He said it almost as a bribe to keep seeing her. Though he thought it would be a tiny price to pay to keep company with a woman who wasn't repulsed by you!

Gina looked at his hands patting the sofa, and smiled taking her place to sit next to him. She listened to his request to see her again. Now the smart thing to do would have been to say she didn't think it was a good idea. He was a vampire after all. From some of his entries she knew what he was capable of. Even the previous night had showed her what power he possessed. Then again tonight ensure her safety.

"I'm rather surprised you would wish to see me again." she said softly. "It seems as though I continue to bring chaos into your life and the evening practicualy ends with you defending my life or body from those that wish it harm."

Taking his cool hand she placed her palm against his and entwined her fingers. "I feel as though I know so much about you, and yet you know nothing of me. But then again what could my life possibly hold that yours hasn't had a million times over."

Adjusting her seating she looked up at him through her lashes blushing lightly. "I would be honored to continued to get to know you, and hear of your adeventures Cole. I've welcomed you into my life and you've conducted yourself as quite the gentlemen I believed you to be. Forgive me for being assumptive, but you're a bit paler then normal. You should probably make your leave and get some food. I will look forward to your email of where and when we shall meet again."

Cole didn't want to leave if he had his way they would sit, talk and just be together forever. It was the comfort Gina brought into his life that he liked so much. The comfort of having a person know the real you and not care. Know of the monster and not worry, or try and exploit them for their own gain.

But she was right. Cole felt weak and knew feeding couldn't be put off much longer. He cursed the beast that stole what should have been a perfect night away from them. He would track that man and kill him. That was for sure.

Cole stood and thanked Gina for all her help. Then made his way out. "I shall be in touch." Then he left, the crisp night air was ripe with the scent of evil, he knew being out tonight alone was a poor idea. But he wasn't scared. He was the monster they feared and tonight he was angry, weak but hungry and very angry.

He moved quickly and made it to a hot spot of crime. He picked his target fast. A young woman was leaving her flat, the sound of crying, he followed her to a local pub where she complained of her brats. She was their protector and yet she cared only for herself. Cole was no angel but he knew a real monster when he was around one. He walked in and sat close to her. She was known in this place. He couldn't just walk out with her, people would notice. He needed to get her to leave on her own. Then no one would be any the wiser. He walked up to a young couple and after buying them a round, Cole convinced them to tell the young woman that the police were at her flat. This should get to running. If the kids went into government care she would lose the money she got for being the caregiver. The money she spent on her self and not the ones in need.

They told her and sure enough, the woman bolted out the door, Cole had already left and was waiting. The scene was not pretty, the woman didn't suffer, her kids would be handed over to social services and would be hopefully taken care of better then they were with her.

Cole fed and was feeling better the woman was placed in a dumpster which was set ablaze the fire would hide much of the crime, she would look like she was attacked, had her neck broken and then sadly set upon by vicious dogs. Cole was long gone before anyone would notice. Back at his flat he wrote in his journal, the entry was full of optimism and hope as well as a cautionary tale of how he became vulnerable around young Gina. Still he would weather any fights to protect her and just to be around her. It was a small price to pay to be sure.

Gina has put on the bravest face she could while Cole was with her. Waiting until she had seen him walking away down the street before she allowed it all to come flooding out. In a pile upon her floor she trembled as the tears came down her cheeks. The two days events pulling her apart at the seams.

First of course, vampires were real. She had met one, and was apparently dating one. Secondly Werewolves existed, and had already wanted to feast upon her. Then of course the previous nights ambush in the alley by scum. After a half an hour of allowing herself the human moment of coming apart at the seams. She rose from the floor and picked up his torn shirt and suit jacket taking them to the kitchen sink.

For an hour or more she let out her frustration and anger by scrubbing the poor materials, until all that remained was the holes. Taking her blow dryer she blew them dry and then began the task of mending them. She doubted that Cole would care if she mended them or not. Most people wouldn't have bothered and simply tossed them and bought a new ones.

The shirt ended up being more of a challenge, so she used black mesh (like football jerseys are made from), an created a design. The suit jacket was easier to repair. It was late and she was now thoroughly exhausted. Ensuring her windows and doors were locked she made her way to her room where she collapsed.

When she awoke the next day she decided that sleep was more important. So she called in to work and spend most of the day with talk shows and ice cream.

Cole remained in the pitch darkness, his thoughts around all that had happened since Gina had contacted him.

Gina was a game changer. I all his years he's only known one other person who knew him as well as she did. Though things ended badly for the other woman, it was also a different time. Now he hoped things would be better.

Perhaps she was right, maybe he should take more of a role in society! After all, he did know with a lot more accuracy what happened over the last few hundred years. Why not? Cole thought. He had hidden in the shadows living as the monster all thought Vampires were. Even with them thinking them a myth, no one ever really knew that he didn't want to be this monster, he took no pleasure in killing and he was capable of many human emotions and traits. He could love, hate, he had rage and he had compassion. He could be someone's protector. So why not more.

He wrote in his journal, he put down all his thoughts on what Gina had said even if it was just to make conversation and she really didn't believe it. Though he very much didn't think that was the case. Cole knew that he would be looking into it.

He also decided to give her a couple of days to mull over all that happened. Though it was commonplace for him, he doubted very much that she wasn't at least a bit shaken from it all.

Gina managed to sleep on and off through out the day. She was a little surprised when her email never dinged, and there wasn't a knock on the door. Perhaps he was recovering still, or perhaps he just thought the risks were too great. It wasn't as if they had made plans. But she hoped above all else he was able to find food in time.

The next day she made it into work. The day was busy and kept her mind occupied and off of the fact she was infatuated with a vampire. Through her research she had managed to find an old portrait. It was of him as a boy and his parents. Of course she wouldn't be able to get a hold of the original, but she did manage to dl a print of it, that she would later have placed on canvas and framed for him.

She found that there was still some hope that he would come back. Still some hope that he wished for her to be part of his life. It seemed crazy, they had just met but she felt as though she had known him for ages. Perhaps it was just the simple case that she had read his journal.

On the way home she picked up some more icecream, and took her shower once she entered. There was no email from him once again. Sweatpants, a tank top and icecream looked to be her companion once again.

Cole didn't leave his dingy flat for two days. He wanted to give her time and not crowd her. He felt hat she needed to think through it all and couldn't have him there and possibly swaying her decision one way or another. He was a believer in reflection. Possibly because he had so much of it over the years.

Finally, in the early morning of the third day, he went out. The sun would be up in three hours but that didn't worry him at all. He went to the twenty-hour cyber cafe and put her email into the address bar.

"Hello Gina, I hope all is well with you. I have let you be for the last couple of days to allow you to think about all that has happened. I know it's been a whirlwind and perhaps to much for you. I still very much want to see you again, I would love your company any evening at any location you should wish. If over the past few days you've come to think that it's better you and I do not see each other again. I will honor that wish and leave you be. Your friend, Cole." He hit send and then went and fed on a low life who was praying on the helpless.

Refreshed and full, strong He sent out to find the Lycan who had attacked them. It didn't take long and he had picked up his scent, it appeared the wounds the ware wolf sustained were graver than his own, that and he had no one to help him after. Had Gina not been there who knows how he would have faired.

"Come to finish me off have you?" The old man said. he was moving slow and the whole container stunk of rot and disease Cole said nothing.

The fight didn't take long, Cole at full strength was too much for the injured Werewolf. Cole ran him through and left his dead body where it fell in the abandoned shipping container close to where Cole hunted for his own prey.

When she awoke from a nightmare early on the third morning she decided to get up instead of go back to bed. Swiping her finger on the touch pad her computer came awake showing her an email from Cole. She mulled over it for a couple moments before replying.

"Dear Cole,
I'm glad to hear from you. I was worried that you weren't able to find what you needed. I'm glad that you are well. I spent my first day at home. I vegged out with ice cream and romantic comedies. Yesterday I went to work, and it was consumed with worry for your well being.
Sometimes reflection for women is not so good, as we tend to over think things.

I would very much like to see you again. There's a music festival in the park tonight at 8, would you be my date?

with regards,
Gina"

After hitting send she made herself some hot tea and breakfast. She felt that weight had been lifted now that she knew he was okay. Her mood seemed to soar as well with the knowledge she'd be seeing him again soon.

Cole had gone back to the cafe, he had only an hour before sunup but that was fine seeing he was very close to his place, there were also a hundred placed one could hide from the sun where he lived.

There was a reply. She did want to see him again. Cole smiled and even looked at the hipster sitting close to him. "She will go on another date!" He told the young man. The stranger smiled and congratulated Cole and then went back to his own screen.

Cole typed his reply fast. "That sounds lovely. I will meet you at the ticket gate where you enter at let's say 730. Looking forward to this evening.

Cole." He hit send and went to his flat. He mulled over their relationship. Would it progress? Should it progress beyond friendship? Just because he wanted it to, didn't mean it would be a good idea. He pushed all negative thoughts from his mind. He went to his journal and wrote in the plans for the night. He wrote of Gina's worry, and her desire to see him. There were real feelings there, that he was sure of.

Cole showered, dressed in a nice casual outfit of jeans and a Doors teeshirt. and he wore a trilby hat, he had seen several of the young people wearing them at the cafe, he thought they looked good so why not. He slipped on his leather shoes and took a wad of cash and was out the door. He took a cab to the festival and saw there were more people then he was expecting. This was both good and bad. Good for them to not be molested by anyone seeing there were too many people around. Bad because he liked to spend time with fewer people, but Gina had suggested it and he was not going to deny her a fun evening she deserved.

Her computer dinged as she poured her breakfast tea. She almost dropped the hot cup as she quickly made her way to the laptop. A smile crossed her face once again. A rush of adrenaline seemed to flood through her veins. She was going to see him again, as soon as tonight. She was walking on dangerous ground, but couldn't seem to help herself.

Work seemed to go by slowly as she couldn't help but watch the clock. Eventually she was able to leave and make it just in time to get changed into a pair of jeans and off the shoulder blouse. Tonight she would wear her hair down, and have her makeup applied lightly.

The cab dropped her off at five to 8, her eyes searched until she saw him. A smile immediately crossing her lips as a feeling she hadn't felt in a long time appeared, joy.For the first time in a long time she had butterflies dancing in her stomach. She was actually happy to gaze upon his flesh and excited to spend time with him once again. The days they had been apart had been an agony she hadn't recognized until now.

Her feet moved her quickly toward him. Before she knew it her arms were wrapped tightly around him as she hugged him tightly. Her brain finally catching up she blushed a little and backed up. "Sorry" she manged to mutter. "Oh I brought you something." Pulling the wrapped framed picture from her purse she handed it to him. "I thought you might like a copy."
