Well it didn't occur to me then. Today it would. Life seemed so much more innocent then.

Miss Rebecca, my father was always going off on business (and other things) trips as well. Abadonment is one of my BIG issues too. This show didn't bother me at all though. TV was safeland away from real life scary land. books were that way too, for me.

Remember the song, Daddy Don't You Walk So Fast?

*sigh*

Given the apparent preference for fake tits and a hairless mound in porn these days, it seems clear to me that Barbie has had an impact on the American psyche. The plastic look has never appealed to me personally, but I sometimes have the sense that I'm a dying breed in this respect.

In any case, here is my contribution to your thread, Neon. Not kinky per se, just a little tasteless political humor. Love the wording at the top of the box.

Now this had me absolutely LOL, JMohegan :nana: <--- tribute to Mr. Clinton

And regarding the fakeness of it all - that is truly perverse (as opposed to being just plain old wholesome kinky... to whit:

cindy jackson, living barbie

P.S., it's one of the reasons i hate most porn...

I did a paper in marketing class on the use of phallic shapes in the packaging of womens products. You’ll be pleased to note that I got an A.
Well, I am so surprised! not, lol

Hey, did they ever mention phallic shapes for children?

Asked in a tongue-in-cheek way, because these were the objects in question - clearly made for wee ones, which I think is very, very odd. And I am not at all reassured by the name "tummy tickles."

ahhhhh.......I had no idea what you were talking about. As a parent I am going to have to say it has more to do with developmental eye hand co ordination skills for the age its marketed at. Plus they may be seen as a cute transition from a bottle to drinking 'all by yourself'.........wooo hooo.........smiles.

There are probably a host of other marketing reasons, resemblance of a phallus I do not think would rate highly .

Thanks Neon I was having a dumb morning :D

Girls often 'torture' Barbies, researchers say

Many young girls like to mutilate and "torture" Barbie dolls, including popping off their heads and microwaving them, a British study suggests. Researchers at the University of Bath have been analyzing the effects of product branding and marketing on more than 100 children aged seven to 11.

They found that, of all the products tested, Barbie provoked the most violent emotions.

"The doll provoked rejection, hatred and violence," said Agnes Nairn, who teaches marketing in the university's school of management.

She said that regardless of age or school, children "gleefully" reported maiming the dolls.

"The girls we spoke to see Barbie torture as a legitimate play activity, and see the torture as a 'cool' activity in contrast to other forms of play with the doll," she said.

"The types of mutilation are varied and creative, and range from removing the hair to decapitation, burning, breaking and even microwaving."

The researchers offered a number of different motivations for the mutilations.

The most common was that the girls felt they had outgrown the doll.

"It's as though disavowing Barbie is a rite of passage and a rejection of their past."

Mattel, which manufactures Barbie, dismissed the study as a very small sampling. Its annual sales of 94 million Barbies are proof that the doll is widely loved by children, it said.

P.S., Rebecca, glad to clear up that misunderstanding. :cathappy:

Plus, if you think about it, the kids aren't the ones who BUY the Barney bottles.
LOL! (although have to say that Rebecca is making sense :D )

You can't decapitate a Barbie doll more than a very few times, and that only if you have good glue. I'd think microwaving is a once only occurence for a Barbie doll. So, yes, of course that many of the dolls are sold, because one always needs new ones to torture

No, I never did that purposely. My Barbie dolls lost their heads by accident. Not the toughest doll around they are.

LOL... If I'd destroyed mine, I doubt that my mom would have bought me another one. Hmmm.... maybe that's why I never mutilated her. Or maybe it's because I used Barbie to transition out of childhood by making her do all those naughty B/D & S/m things...
