10 years ago, but I've kept both the US and Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) up to date, plus the NY state license is supposedly okay to use to enter into and leave Canada.

Where I am in NY, it's 8%. If I go to a large outlet mall, the taxes are 15%
If I go to an Iroquois reserve, the taxes are 0

I've been told of those. A cousin on one of the Mohawk reservations/reserves told me to just whip out the Iroquois passport if they insist I'm a tourist.

I only see it in the higher class restaurants. I have never been caught by that at IHOP for example.
But just so you know it is not enforced and they must remove that from your bill once you request it...or should I say...once you discover they slipped it on there.

In NY, there was a law: groups of 6 or more were charged 18% gratuity. It was enforced mostly on groups of 10 or more, or if the group was loud and obnoxious. It's since been rescinded, but most people would add more tip money.
