I just can't enjoy IPAs. I've been told that not all are the same which I understand. But the happiness tastes piney to me. I wonder if it's like the cilantro issue?
Beer fest is this coming weekend. Most likely, I will just be tasting the barleywines.
The Bourbon County barleywine is always a solid choice
I have never made an IPA but want to try. However I'm a novice having only made from premade wort and such. Makes me nervous to try from scratch.
I’ve had both first and second fiddle.![]()
In addition to my normal monthly beer club, I picked up:
Neuzelle Kloster Brewery - Mord & Totschlag
Denali Brewing - One Tree
Midnight Sun Brewing - Berserker Imperial Stout, oak-aged
Midnight Sun Brewing - Sloth
Beer club selections were:
MIKKELLER - Ahr Hvad?!
ALVINNE - Cuvée D'Erpigny Pedro Ximénez
PÕHJALA - Öö Baltic Porter
STIEGL - Lemon Radler

Last evening, I didn't feel like cooking so I stopped off at Midnight Sun Brewing and had a bowl of spicy pork soup and a glass of Sloth. I also picked up a bottle of Grand Crew Brew for the cellar, at 14% is should age very well.
Beer Fest this weekend.
I am looking forward to:
2017 Tusk Barleywine Blend - Hoodoo Brewing
Deadliest Batch - Kodiak Island Brewing
2015 Big Woody - Glacier Brewhouse
Moose Juice Barley Wine - St. Elias Brewing
Black Widow - St. Elias Brewing
Critical Hit - Ninkasi Brewing
Darth Delirium ‘18 - Broken Tooth Brewing
Ice 9 - Broken Tooth Brewing
Old Birdbrain - Black Raven Brewing
’16 Barleywine - Arkose Brewery
Alaskan Barrel-Aged Tree Beer’d Barleywine - Alaskan Brewing
Whiskey Barrel Aged Outlander Barleywine - 49th State Brewing
Whiskey Barrel Aged Sewards Folly - 49th State Brewing
And others!

It was a great time. The barleywines from both 49th State and 21st Amendment were my favorites.
I love 21st Amendment.
I haven't had enought Belgians lately. I just had Delirium Tremens, which was nice. I have a Westmalle Tripel in my refrigerator. The curent one I enjoy the most from my fridge right now is Sips of Sunshine.
