"When are we supposed to leave?" She asked "we only have one day and a lot to do..." She said as she gave him a quick kiss before pulling away.

"As soon as we get dressed." Craig pulled on his underwear and started rummaging through his closet. He pulls out a deep burgundy polo and tan pants. Putting on the clothes as he watches Lilly get dressed.

"If we are going to look at stars tonight, it will be a late night. Grab one of the pillows for the car."

"Alright." She said getting dressed in jeans and a black top. "Does this look alright?" She asked as she grabbed a pillow and her bag "ready to go?"

"You could make burlap look good." Craig walks Lilly out to his car...opening the door for her.

He quickly rushes to the driver's side and pulls into the light traffic. Once they are merged on the interstate, craig takes Lilly's hand in his. "So, I never asked you. Are you nervous to meet my parents?"

"Of course I am. They will probably hate me." She said "I doubt I'm the kind of girl your family wants you to be with..." Lilly said looking out the window.

Craig squeezes her hand, reassuringly. "Not a chance. When they see how happy you've made me, they're bound to love you." He brings her hand up to kiss the back of it.

A song comes on the radio. "Did you know that this song was playing when I first saw you at the Freshman Mixer."

"I can barely remember the freshman mixer..." She said "care to refresh my memory?" She asked as looked over at him.

"You were absolutely stunning. Your hair was up in a loose bun. A few strands of hare framed an absolutely beautiful face. While most women opted for the little black dress, you wore a classy red Audrey Hepburn style dress. Guys were clamoring for your attention. Girls were talking about you."

Craig turned to face her. "Then the most amazing thing happened. You smiled at me and mouthed the word "hi"." Craig leaned over and kissed Lilly's cheek. "And skip a few years...and here we are!"

"It seems so strange for us to be dating...." She said "I never would have guessed that we would have ended up together."

"It's amazing the twists and turns life brings us." Craig waxes philosophical. "I must be doing something right...after all, you're here."

"I guess so. How long of a drive is it?" Lilly asked "I don't even know where we are going. Anything I should know before we get there?"

"It's only about a 3 hour drive." Craig replies. It is a bit far, but still a doable day-trip.

"Nothing to prep you for. It's just the typical small town. Everyone knows everyone and greets each other accordingly. Once you are 'in', you are a friend for life."

"You look sleepy, honey. Would you like to sleep a bit more?"

"Yeah, if you don't mind." She said as she took the pillow and got as comfortable as she could while sitting in the car.

Watching as she struggled to get comfortable, Craig finally took the pillow and put it on his lap. "Try this"

"Alright, just make sure you wake me up at least ten minutes before we get there." She said as she laid her head down "I don't want to look all sleepy when I meet your parents." She said closing her eyes.

As he drove, his hand ran through her hair splayed over the pillow.

About 20 miles from home, craig starts waking Lilly up. Calling her name, Craig slides his hand into hers. "Wake up!"

"I'm up, I'm up..." She said carefully sitting back up. She sighed running her fingers through her hair, making sure it looked alright "I can't believe I actually slept that long."

Soon, they pull into the driveway of his familie's large but modest home. "Are you ready? Before we begin this day...i need a kiss."

"I think I can spare one." She said "but just one..." She said as she unbuckled her salt belt before pressing her lips to his.

Kissing her back deeply. "Are you ready to meet the family?" Remember, we have a long day ahead, so we can't be long."

"Yeah, I think I'm ready." She said as she pulled away from him "I'm still nervous though." She said taking a deep breath as she got out of the car.

Craig offers lilly his arm and walks to the door. Before he even arrives, the door flies open and mom and dad rush out with hugs for them both. Craig's sister, while still excited is a bit more reserved.

Lilly takes notice and I whisper, "she really loved Nikole. It may take some time."

Relax. She will like you. You are pretty damn loveable.

Breakfast with the family was a formality for what they really wanted. We answered questions about how we met...studies...plays. During a brief lull, Jessica blurts out "you won't break my brother heart by leaving too early like Nikole did...will you?"

Mom and dad rush to shush her, but the question was asked. Craig thought quicklyto alleviate the tension.

Lilly just stared at her for a moment before responding "I don't plan on breaking his heart but I don't know what the future holds. He could break my heart for all I know." She sighed "if I ever hurt him you have every right to hate me, I know I would hate myself..."
