Beyond the Secretary...

I'd pass the beer and go right to the hard stuff. But I do with most of his stuff. The only movie I really perved on him in was Interview with a Vampire. I was pleasantly surprised that he pulled off the role. Then Kait pointed out that Lestat was a way over the top sort of guy that believed all his own press; so it was sort of like typecasting.

Drinking heavily would be the ONLY good precursor to that flick.

So, what DO you like then?

(I would venture to guess that you, Rosco, and Winston might come up with some pretty interesting answers.)

I hadn't really thought about that in regards to My Cousin Vinny, but you're right.

I love that movie. Marissa Tomei was, I think, about at her hottest in that movie. I don't think I'll ever forget how her ass looked in those skin tight outfits from the 80's.

"The King's Mistress" is a difficult find, but another strong in the power exchange aspect.

MastrJ: I still recall Marissa from way back in her sitcom days.

Nope. I haven't had the chance to get a hold of a copy and sit down to watch it.

I DID just pick up Season One of SOAP on DVD a few weeks ago. Nothing to do with any of the movies we've discussed here, but I just love that show. :D

On numerous occasions, though I must admit to a tinge of dissapointment. It was definetly Hollywoodized. I much preffered "Sade," the French subtitled version. Somehow more realistic.

You might enjoy "Blue Velvet," if you have not already seen it.

MastrJ: I used to love that show.

I've seen it but it's been a while. I don't claim to know that much about the Marquis de Sade but I remember thinking that "Quills" seriously over-simplified who and what he was. But, honestly, I don't know how Hollywood could (or would) do a realistic and honest portrayal of such a man in one feature-length movie.

MastrJ: I love "Soap." Wish they'd put it back on TV Land. I could use a weekend-long "Soap" marathon right now.

I videotaped the Comedy Channel marathon of SOAP from a while ago. So I can do that whenever I want. As long as I'm willing to deal with all of the bloody commercials since I wasn't able to get rid of them while taping.

I have a roomie that's ten years younger than me. She'd never even heard of the show before I brought the DVD set home with me. She laughed quite a bit while watching it with me, but still won't admit that she enjoyed it. When a friend of her fiance's came over and started oozing about the fact I had the show on disc her head almost exploded. She had assumed my love for the show was simply some early sign of dementia on my part. :)

Since this thread got off on a Colin Firth tangent for a bit, I thought I would post this here:

Colin Firth Interested in 007 Role

Thu Nov 18, 3:19 PM ET Entertainment - AP Gossip/Celebrity

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK - Colin Firth (news) is done being Bridget Jones' nice guy, but he's not against donning British agent 007's tuxedo.

"At the moment, I can't think of anything I would be less attracted to," says Firth about the possibility of a third "Bridget Jones" film.

However, the 44-year-old actor tells Entertainment Weekly magazine that he'd seriously consider taking over the James Bond franchise from Pierce Brosnan (news).

Unlike another famous Colin — Colin Farrell, who says he's not interested in the role despite being Brosnan's choice — there's been no talk of Firth grabbing Bond's Walther PPK.

"No one has approached me, but I would not be averse to it," Firth tells EW in its latest issue.

"Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," the sequel to the 2001 original, stars Firth as the stiff tacky sweater-wearing lawyer Mark Darcy and Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones.

Firth, whose screen credits also include "Love Actually" and "Shakespeare in Love," said he isn't interested in Mark Darcy-like roles.

"I'm attracted to dark stuff," he said, "and I'm in that mode right now."

I'm definitely on the Colin Firth bandwagon, but I'm not sure I can see him as Bond. He really just doesn't have that slick, super spy thing going on. ;) I'm pretty depressed that Brosnan is done with being Bond.

And all I can say about the possibility of Colin Farrell as Bond is yuck.

There is absolutely nothing sexy about that man, and all I can think every time I see him is 'now if only I had some tweezers for those caterpillars growing over his eyes'. :D He's so unattractive to me, I'm going to have to probably be dragged to go see Alexander... he ruins it for me, almost as much as the unhistorical horse reference does. *C says don't get me started on the horse thing again.* ;)

I agree with you about Farrell. Fortunately, I believe I heard/read something saying that he wasn't in any way interested in being Bond.

I think I could buy Firth as Bond.

He is for sale ??? (drooly, swoon, swoon.)

Thanks for the heads up on the article! I particularly love the part where he confesses his passion for the darker roles.

Down girl. You could start flash floods with that drool. :D

You're welcome about the article.

Dangerous Liasons (Malkovich version) is one of my favorite flicks of all time.

My oldest friend is my feminine doppelganger, a maneater with an insatiable apetite and exceptional skills. We've gotten into Valmont/Merteuil style challenges on a number of occassions.

So, what did you think of the other three versions?

Am impressed to learn that men enjoy this flick too. I thought they would find it too "wordsy."

Probably many men don't, but I'm into wordsy flicks. Unfortunately that and cruel intentions were the only versions I've ever seen, and I don't have to tell you which version was better. Although, for a teen movie, cruel intentions wasn't all that bad.

Of course, that's like saying "other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

Ooooh... You have to get it. There's a scene where he dives into the lake, which isn't so great, just a guy diving into a lake. But then of course, he has to get out of the lake. Think fluffy white shirt and breeches plastered to a nice bod by water. Nice bit of eye candy, there.
Is that ALL you women think about? We men are never thought of for our minds. It's always our bodies!

Now, if it was a woman climbing out of the water, and her clothes were clinging to her body...

You forgot to finish that sentence.:)

Happy to be of service.

My perception of Marissa Tomei will always be warped by those brilliant Seinfeld episodes..

She'd never do it, but if Marissa Tomei was getting out of the water, and her clothes were clinging to her body...yeah, baby. She's a beauriful lady.

And, call me weird, but I've never rented a movie in my life.

If I ever get the chance, I think you'd enjoy my mind over your matter. And, you'd pay for that statement, too!
