Bi-Ways Author Challenge

There are a lot of bisexual stories here that don't fit neatly into the category system, and the implicit ambiguities often pose troubles for both readers and authors. (The ‘bisexual’ tag is applied to over 16k stories.) So here’s an opportunity for writers with an interest in bisexual matters.

The theory and practice of heterosexuality is the universal standard. In most cultures, over many centuries (with significant exceptions) strong taboos are associated with same-sex erotic engagements, and laws (some only recently repealed) prohibit sodomy and various other 'deviant' non-heterosexual practices. It was, and still can be, a challenge to fantasize, behave, and act beyond the norms of the hetero-world.

Many people with urges outside the mainstream were forced to hide their thoughts and actions, and live outside the walls of their culture. It was always especially difficult to be 'bisexual' with a foot in both (all) camps.

Here is an event for bisexual oriented tales: an open author challenge to welcome bisexual (ambidextrous or multi-dexterous) stories.

Stories should have a bisexual theme. Either one (or more) of the main characters should have bisexual attractions or exhibit bisexual behavior AND/OR the story must contain bisexual activities. That's it, otherwise the sky is the limit.

‘Bisexual’ covers a lot of ground: those who are curious/confused, comfortable active participants, and pansexual.

Whether you are a regular bisected author, or never considered writing a bisexual tale, let's see what kinds of stories we can generate.

Open to all authors.

Rules:

Bisexual theme (see above.)
Any category.

Submission deadline: Add between January 1 and February 1 2027
Event date: final anthology list posted on Monday 9 February.

Include "Bisexual Challenge 2027" in the administrative notes.
Add the tags "bisexual" and "bi-ways 2027" to your tale.

I love this!

...it would sure be an amazing opportunity for @Laurel to debut a Bisexual/Pansexual story category 👀
Folk have been asking for that since about 2000, I think. It's such an obvious designation for a category, I don't understand why it was never put in, in the first place.

Back then, bisexuality was a well known thing, pansexual as a term was less well known. I had to look up it's meaning the first time I saw it, but then, half my sexual life has been in the last century, so there's that!

The challenge is an interesting one...
The problem though remains... The story has to post in one of the existing categories, and will not be unanimously accepted by the audience...
I like the idea that if the response is strong enough, Management might be encouraged to change the category designations... Please....
