You're comparing a 16 year union to 1,500 years of history? And ignoring how peace was forced in the Eastern Bloc of Europe by the iron fist of Soviet rule?Look at Europe. More or less continuously at war since the fall of Rome. Now they have the European Union, which is something more than an association like the UN but less than a federal government -- and between members of that Union, war is now inconceivable. Something like that on a global scale would be a good thing indeed.
