Meh, if you were to make this realistic, it would hardly be a loss. Indeed, it might even be a net positive for the scientific progress, as the long-tenured positions are freed and are now manned by younger, more ambitious, and more open-minded guys. (Cue Feynman’s “Physics moves forward one funeral at a time”).But what are the reprocussions for soceity? Scientific progress set back as literally thousands of years' worth of experience is turned into horny fuck-bunnies who couldn't find a hypotenuse if you pointed them at it.
But honestly, I’d rather leave them with most if not all of their mental faculties. It’s much more fun to think how the horny fuck-bunnies would try to adapt, holding their positions, doing reserach, mentoring postdocs etc. while dealing with both the transformation and the heightened sex drives.
