Birthday presents? For guys?

So my husband's birthday is coming up, soon, and I have absolutely no clue as to what to give him as a present.

Guys, what do you want for presents? Like, really? I'd like some input please!

And fellow girls, do you give good presents and care to share ideas?

His main interests are aviation and history, also he likes movies and books. Only we have lots of movies and books, so....

Other than that, maybe sporting event tickets?

No matter how many you've got, there's no such thing as having too many books. And you know what his interests are. Get thee to Amazon and start searching.

How many model airplanes does he have? How many does he wish he had? If you go this route, don't forget glue and paint.

Also, there's no such thing as having too many tools.

I don't know how soon is soon, but there are several things you can get in a relatively short period of time. Here are some ideas that worked for me - hope they help.

I know that you said you have loads of books, but perhaps a coffee table book on historic planes. You can browse through amazon or chapters to see the various selections. Also, there are excellent replicas of historic model planes that are relatively affordable. Or even better: get him a kit, and let him enjoy building it.

A subscription to his favourite magazine.

A digital picture frame (or key chain). I got these for several guy friends/relative of all ages (youngest being 23, the oldest being 77), and they were very well received.

You mentioned that hubby is a history buff - what time period? If he's into modern history/World Wars, then perhaps something from that era. If he's into 16-18th Century, then maybe a compass from that time (or replica). There some really gorgeous ones from here, although they ship from Europe, so that may not be feasible. Anything older, you need to specify the era (Roman, Egyptian, Japanese, Mayan).

And you can browse through eBay for some idea, or this site. They have some really great ideas, tailored to gender and category. Actually that last one is mine of ideas for gifts regardless. I constantly use it.

Not such a bad idea kb, there are actually charter services that will take a couple up and give them a sleeping area in the back of the plane to 'join the club'.

Besides that, maybe a wall plaque with favourite squadron insignia if it's war planes he likes or perhaps some piece of memorabilia-like mounted parts from some historic type of plane that he likes. A friend of mine has some engine parts from a spitfire.
