Bless me father for I have sinned...

It's been a year ...

but i didn't "remember the face of my father" long before that.

Let me watch by the fire and remember my days
And it may be a trick of the firelight
But the flickering pages that trouble my sight
Is a book I'm afraid to write

It's the book of my days, it's the book of my life
And it's cut like a fruit on the blade of a knife
And it's all there to see as the section reveals
There's some sorrow in every life

If it reads like a puzzle, a wandering maze
Then I won't understand 'til the end of my days
I'm still forced to remember,
Remember the words of my life

There are promises broken and promises kept
Angry words that were spoken, when I should have wept
There's a chapter of secrets, and words to confess
If I lose everything that I possess
There's a chapter on loss and a ghost who won't die
There's a chapter on love where the ink's never dry
There are sentences served in a prison I built out of lies.

Though the pages are numbered
I can't see where they lead
For the end is a mystery no-one can read
In the book of my life

There's a chapter on fathers a chapter on sons
There are pages of conflicts that nobody won
And the battles you lost and your bitter defeat,
There's a page where we fail to meet

There are tales of good fortune that couldn't be planned
There's a chapter on god that I don't understand
There's a promise of Heaven and Hell but I'm damned if I see

Though the pages are numbered
I can't see where they lead
For the end is a mystery no-one can read
In the book of my life

Now the daylight's returning
And if one sentence is true
All these pages are burning
And all that's left is you

Though the pages are numbered
I can't see where they lead
For the end is a mystery no-one can read
In the book of my life

Rest easy, "old man." i remember your words.

Hubby's Catholic and hasn't been to mass since about a month after we started dating. According to what I understand of Catholics- he's got a lot to repent over, LOL.
Thank Goddess such things as that aren't part of my belief structure. What I do that's wrong in Goddess' eyes stays that way- for her eyes/ears only.

Tsk, tsk, tsk..............

I used to be a submarine catholic, coming up for xmas, easter and such. Now the hypocrisy upsets me.Mine and theirs. I miss going to mass , I quite like the rituals, the prayers, the hymns, but I dont believe in catholic dogma, the "one god theory", the restrictions of the Vatican, the catholic church's involvement in many historical disasters and suffering.
But I love the ambience of an empty church. The smell of the polished timber and stale incense. The flickering candles.
I am a sinner, and have no intentions to stop sinning, in the eyes of the church, and the pious faces of the congregation irritate me.

I see it differently. We all sin...and if we didnt sin we would never grow! God actually expects and accepts that every human sins. So ive learned to ignore the phony stone faces i see and to listen...really listen to what is being said to ME, personally. I have read it and understand it as it fits into my life, not others lives. It became more fulfilling, a way to look deeper into myself and make me a better person. Bottom line to me is; your religion is what you take from it, and what you learn from it. Ok i dont wanna sound preachy but my religion gives me a certain balance in my life that i need.

I have struggled with how to post at this thread. So, without my mod hat on, I am going to simply post what I feel.

I find many of the posts in this thread highly offensive and indicating a certain lack of tolerance and understanding. None of us wants to be judged or mocked for things that others don't understand about us.

If someone came in and posted that we are all a bunch of psycho freaks, there would be fur flying as has happened in the past. We don't want to be judged on the basis of what those outside the lifestyle don't understand about us and we don't judge one another based on how we each, as individuals, translate and assimilate the lifestyle into our daily lives.

That pertains equally well to our religious beliefs, our ethnicity, our heritage, our sexual practices, our socio economic status and so forth.

Lit is a site based on free speech and for that reason, this sort of posting is permitted. However, keep in mind that others have the freedom to reply in kind and that how and what you post is all that many of us have to determine your credibility in terms of BDSM. Free speech is not an excuse for poor taste, imho.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled Catholic mock fest.

Just to add...this thread is the reason i stopped participating in these two forums as much as i had in the past. I didnt understand how ppl living this lifestlye...knowing what we are up against when it comes to the so called normal word could make fun of a persons beliefs when it comes to religion. Are both not almost identical? Or is it just a silly subbie being way too sensitive? :rose: Thank you Miss T for making me feel i could post this.

Thank you. I have kept wondering why, considering the deletions from the thread starter, this thread just will not die.

I could never have said what you did, Miss T, without being flamed from here to next week for it. I appreciate your consideration more than you know.

Thank you, calista. I have felt just as you articulated. And no, you are not being too sensitive. Neither of us would participate in a thread mocking Muslims, Baptists, Jews or any other religion for that matter. Of course, like WD, the moment you speak up, you are labled as overly sensitive and narrow minded.

And thank you to angela146, for showing the class and understanding that you did in this thread.

Now, what do you suppose the reception would be if I posted a webpage here "poking fun" at Muslims as a bunch of rag-headed-camel-fuckers? We have 2 threads right now "poking fun" at Christians... ergo, it must be okay, right?

edited to say: For those of you who don't get it, I don't think of Muslims as a bunch of rag-headed-camel-fuckers. It was an example used as illustration only.

I apologize for waiting so long to gather my thoughts and find the opportunity to post.

I do not want to deter anyone from posting freely, but don't believe my own personal beliefs need to be put aside because I am moderating.

I am sorry if I have offended anyone, honestly that wasnt my intention. Just an explanation of how I view my catholicism and my experiances. and thanks Calista, you worded it so well. I have my faith but unfortunately the church doesnt "do it for me" at the moment.Might try it again sometime though, and adopt your attitude.I would never intentionally say anything derogitory against anyone's faith. Mea culpa.
