Note: This is a prequel to Lust is Blind- if anyone show me how to link to that, that would be excellent.

As John sat, rose in hand, dressed up in his collared shirt and khakis, he felt another pang of embarrassment. His room mates, Chad and Tom, had put him up to this. They thought it was a hilarious prank- a blind man on a blind date. John considered himself to have a great sense of humor, but this wasn't up there on the greatest college pranks of all time, as far as he was concerned. Still, he went along with it, knowing he hadn't met with a girl this way in... how long had it been? John was around girls all the time- they seemed to love hanging with him- but it never got more intimate or serious than that. With any luck, this girl might have just the right amount of a sense of humor, and they'd hit it off.

For now, he sat back in his chair and waited.

OOC: Jessie Wright, 5' 5", long blond hair, blue eyes, 120 lbs, 23 years old, well developed.

Jessie hurried to the bar where she was suppose to meet some guy that her friends dared her to meet. They kept teasing her for her lack of male companionship and finally set up this blind date. She hated bars but they told her, you can look at him from afar and if you dont like his looks just leave. She toyed with the idea of telling them she looked and did not like but knew she would not get away with the lie. She turned into the bar and looked into the lounge part of the huge bar and grill and saw a guy sitting alone and figured that was him. It was early, most people wouldnt be here until after classes were over. It was a college town and most were still in classes. She was surprised when her friends arranged for a guy to meet her on the only day she had two classes. His classes must have ran the same as hers. He was cute sitting there alone. She decided to meet him at least.

As she walked to him, he turned his handsome face to her. He had a handsome smile as well she thought as she finally got to him. "John, I am Jessie, Jessie Wright, please tell me you are my blind date". People turned to look at her as they had seen him come in. Most thought she was being mean and nasty and glared at her.

John's smile brightened at hearing Jessie's smooth, rather cute voice. He imagined she must be the same visually. "Pleased to meet you, Jessie, I'm John. And yep, that's me..." he said. He patted the cane folded at his side, for emphasis. Extending his hand a little clumsily to meet hers, which he noticed was slender and firm- a good indication of her body. As he leaned to shake her hand, he caught a whiff of her delicate perfume- she was obviously a girl who cared about all aspects of her appearance. John wasn't usually one to put a big importance on these kinds of things, but his first impression was definitely a good one. As she took her seat, he asked, "So, how've you been?" It was an awkward, question, but he was a bit nervous.

Jessie had a sneaking suspiction and as she spoke she waved her hand in front of John's eyes. "Oh I am good". Hum, a blind man, how interesting. "So shall we have a drink, John." She waved to a waiter who came over right away. "I will have a rum and coke". John, what would you like." She let her eyes flow over him from top to bottom, it was great not to have to hide where you were looking. This could be a most interesting date. She waited for John to tell the waiter what he wanted while she took a ten spot out and put it on the table. "This is my treat John, so order what you want".

"Well then, dinner's on me!" John smiled. He ordered a glass of his favorite local brew, and turned to Jessie, unsure of what to say next. The beer came, giving him an excuse for something else to do with his mouth.

Jessie smiled, she liked this blind man and knew he felt uncomfortable. She touched his hand. "You can relax John, I know you are blind and it does not matter to me, I think you are a very nice guy and I am not going to run away. I am enjoying this date". Jessie sipped her drink and waited to see what kind of impact what she had said would make on him.

For an instant, Jessie's comment made John more uncomfortable. He was used to feeling awkward, but not used to people pointing it out, or the reason for it. Still, what she said next was reassuring. It seemed like she was truly trying to make the best of an awkward situation, which he appreciated. "Glad you're enjoying yourself," he smiled, "I know I am." He leaned in slightly, as he spoke.

Jessie smile as she spoke to him. "Well John, where would you like to go eat. Do you have a special place you like to go with your dates? I don't get out much so it's entirely up to you. I bet your friends are like mine, always pushing you to go out. Thats what they do to me all the time. Hey Jessie, I know I am in trouble as soon as they say the Hey, how about comes next and then its the date. I usually say no, but they were insistant on this one. And you know what, I am glad I came. Not often do I find a nice guy like yourself on one of these dates".

Jessie was impressed at how genuine John was as she sat looking at his handsome face.

"Well, no," John replied, "I don't know this area very well. Should we just take a walk? You can tell me what looks good, I'll tell you what smells good?" He laughed lightly at his own joke. "Besides you, of course," he added, flirting.

Jessie smiled at his flirting words, "You are a bit of a devil aren't you". So let's get going then, there are some nice places to eat and we will rely on that wonderful nose of yours to tell us what is best. So is there a way I can help you?" Jessie stood up as she was talking and was amazed how he raised his head when she did so. She walked around the table and stood in front of him. "I am at your disposal, kind sir."

"Oh, thank you for the offer!" replied John. "It's actually much easier to walk when someone's guiding me, rather than just using the cane. If you don't mind me holding your arm for a minute or two...?" Before he knew it, he had a light grip on her slender arm, and was again tantalized by her scent as they walked out, into the cool night air. Enjoying the budding connection between them, but feeling awkward about the silence, he spoke, "So, Jessie, what do you study?"

Jessie was taken back by his light senual touch on her arm. She had never met a man that was so gentle. His touch quieted her for a while as she guided him out of the tavern. She could feel his body almost gliding with her stride. As she thought of this he suddenly spoke and she jumped. She felt foolish and quickly answered him. "Political Science, and you, what are you studying? She hoped he did not take offense because she was in effect daydreaming of him.

"I'm in grad school for mechanical engineering," he responded. "Almost done. I can't wait to graduate, to be honest- I'm ready to join the working world! Any ideas what you want to do after college?"

Jessie smiled as he spoke thinking that he had his future well in hand. When he asked her about her future plans she frowned and told him, "I am not sure what I am going to do. After four years with my major I am not sure that is what I want to do with the rest of my life. She sighed, and shook her head. I dont want to put any more time into education. I want to work but I dont think I will be a very good politician. It was interesting enough to study but I cant see myself actually working at it.
