Blue`s Place

me and her indoors went downtown for a walk this afternoon.
Was a nice warm afternoon, I took the camera, and took a few pics while she was in shops,. looking for skirts.

This street has a very wide sidewalk, and lots of shops and cafes.

Good afternoon/evening ladies and Blue (of course). ;)

I've been lurking about since the first photos went up after your Vegas trip and I felt I should voice my appreciation for sharing these little pieces of your world. Thank you.

You are most welcomre MOM, and I thank you my dear friend

Hopefully this summer I will get out and about, and take many more to post here, for my friends to see. :)

It is another lovely morn here, and, as some of you are aware, there is a very old village about ten min walk from me.
There is another park there too, next to the church that dates back over 700 years.
And some nice thatched cottages. if I get chance, I will walk down there later, and take pics.
hugs all
Blue

oooOOOoooo I'd love to see those, BD..........I can't wait!!!!!! :)

Be well, BD

One of the cottages was rethatched recently, in the traditional way. One man working alone did it, took approx 7 weeks.
Here are two photos of it.
And remember, these cottages are not for decoration, they are all lived in, and much sought after.

They are beautiful, BD. Are the cottages used at times for B&B's? I know I would love to stay in one of those, being so picturesque

Thank you for sharing them, BD  :)

No, not B&B`s, some are rented out, other owners live in.
This one is called Rose Cottage, and in the summer the garden is full of roses.
I took a pic there 2 years back in the summer, and the lady owner was very helpful, allowing me round the back to take pics. Sorry, dont have them now, but later in summer will take some.

well, I'm sure they will be lovely just as all your other photos have been. How lucky you are to live in a place where everything is so pretty and the living is at a much slower pace. I could be wrong, but I found when I was in Holland, I had that feeling of peace because they live in a slower pace setting.

are most of the cottages in a form of row housing, BD? or does it just vary?

It varies, some are detached, and some in groups. A lot have been derelict, and replaced by modern houses. But that is not allowed now, they all have preservation orders on them. Some, as you will see shortly, are used as shops also.

These next two, are a row of single and double story cottages, then a close up of the old smithy.
The road they are on is now a one way street, although double decker busses use it daily.

Looking North, this is the other end of the row of cottages where the Smithy is.

I'm happy to know that they are now saved via preservation orders. It is sad that some, I am sure, have been destroyed and were very beautiful in their day.

It amazes me knowing how double decker's can still manage to maneuver through such narrow roadways

I love the contrast between dark and light.......especially the white decoration against the deep hue of the brick

First is some shops
Second is the Chocolatier shop ( and they are yummy too)
Third is Chocolatier and the Bold Arms Hotel (pub)
Fourth is the Bold from the other end.
