Books For Christmas?

Not a one, which is...strange. Got my wife DaVinci Code and she is loving it despite mixed (here) notices. I'll check it out when she's done. Will unfortunately have Tom Hanks in mind when reading it though. Damn, hate to find out casting before I read a book. ;)

I only got two, this year.

One of them is called Garden of Erotic Poetry of the Siglo de Oro, which is an anthology of Spanish erotic poetry of the 16th century. The thing I loved about it is that it's a bilingual edition, with the original Spanish poems and the Portuguese translations side by side.

The other one is just too weird to explain, but it's a collection of posts from a well-known and very politically incorrect Portuguese blog and it's the most hilarious thing ever.

I haven't read either of them completely yet, but then again, neither of them is meant to be read like that. :D

Forgot this one.

The Life of Insects by Victor Pelevin.

Haven't read it yet, but it seems right up my alley. Bizarre and pitch black humor.

Have just started:

"The Bounty: the True Story of the Mutiny on the Bounty," by Caroline Alexander

A new translation of "Beowulf," by Seamus Heaney.

An assortment of trashy paperbacks that I start and finish during bubblebaths.

I got that last year, and this year they came out with the delux illustrated edition:( (I had to look up all the scenery myself online- and I did too!) Which did your wife get?

(trust me, if she likes it so far, she'll love it.)

I only got 1 book this year, a gigantic coffee table book called 'Hippies' that I asked for- and a gift cirtificate for B&N.

My kids also got some books that I'm looking forward to reading.

Last year, or course, I got the DaVinci Code.
